Something similar happened when three movies locked horns on Indepence Day 2024. Stree 2, Vedaa and Khel Khel Mein clashed at the cinema halls, offering the audience three strong options to choose from.

While Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's film Stree 2 raced ahead in the game, Khel Khel Mein and Vedaa got swept away in the Stree storm. Both the films underperformed at the box office, sending shockwaves across the industry. Many trade experts questioned the filmmakers for releasing their movies with Stree 2, which had the biggest buzz in the country since Pathaan and Jawan.

Vedaa starred John Abraham, Sharvari Wagh, Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Vidhyarthi. The Nikkhil Advani directorial is inspired by true events. Despite the initial buzz, the film failed to garner footfalls as expected.

A journalist took to social media to mention the 'new power dynamic' in the industry where the OTT platforms are asking the filmmakers to release the film on certain dates.
