After the release of Mirzapur Season 3, Ali Fazal confessed that he never believed the series will become a cult. He said to India Today, "When it first came out, I never knew it would get this famous. But, I knew that this form of storytelling would work, and I think it was one of those few shows with such a plotline." He explained, "Because I had seen it in the West and have seen it work, hence, I was pretty sure that if the story is done right, there's going to be an audience for it because then it was a different medium that is catching up."

Talking about the challenges of Season 3, Ali Fazal said, "Season 3 was challenging because we had this constant thing going that 'will the next season work?' I can't think of (any other series)...maybe 'Peaky Blinders'. I'm not comparing ourselves to that, but I'm saying because of them coming out with so many seasons, so then, also be mindful that you have to keep up with the world, and characters. I think that's the challenge we focus on."
