Ali Fazal Reveals Signing Raj & DK’s Series Rakht Brahmand, Shares DEETS Of Prep From Growing Hair & More
Ali Fazal is intensively training for his significant role in the fantasy period drama Rakht Brahmand, focusing on authenticity through physical transformation and dedication.

Ali Fazal is gearing up for what is being touted as one of his most significant roles to date in the eagerly anticipated fantasy period drama, Rakht Brahmand. Under the production helm of the innovative Raj & DK and direction of Rahi Anil Barve, known for his work on Tumbbad, the series is set to feature an impressive lineup of talent including Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Promising a blend of historical richness and fantastical elements, the series is expected to deliver a cinematic spectacle. Fazal's commitment to his role involves a rigorous daily regime spanning 6-7 hours, covering extensive weight training, diction lessons, and a deep dive into ancient Indian martial arts to maintain authenticity in his portrayal. His physical transformation for the role extended beyond workouts to growing his hair for eight months, ensuring his appearance aligns with the series' demands.
The actor has also opted for a natural approach to his character's appearance, choosing to grow his hair for more than a year rather than using wigs, in an effort to bring realism to his performance. This transformation is part of Fazal's dedication to authentically embody his character.
Ali Fazal expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, "Signing Rakht Brahmand was an easy decision for me because it's unlike anything I've done before. The depth, the scale, and the sheer vision of the project are incredible. But with a role of this magnitude comes great responsibility. I knew from day one that this would require intense physical and mental preparation. I have been spending nearly 6-7 hours a day training—whether it's weight training to build the right physique, diction classes to perfect my speech, or diving into old-school Indian martial arts to make my action sequences look as raw and authentic as possible. Growing my hair for over a year was just one part of the transformation; the real challenge has been pushing my body and mind beyond their limits. This process has been demanding, but it's also been incredibly rewarding. I can't wait for audiences to witness the world we are creating with Rakht Brahmand."
Discussing the transformative nature of his role, Fazal remarked, "This role demanded something completely different from anything I've done before. Growing my hair for over a year was a conscious choice to fully immerse myself in the character's world. It wasn't just about aesthetics; it was about embracing the essence of the role and ensuring that every detail felt real. It's been a journey of patience and dedication, and I'm excited for audiences to see this unique look and the depth it adds to the story."
Currently, the production of Rakht Brahmand is proceeding at a brisk pace within several Mumbai studio locations. Throughout this process, Ali Fazal remains fully committed to delivering an unforgettable performance in what promises to be a visually stunning and narratively rich series.
