Dhurandhar 2 arrived after the massive success of its first instalment, which released in December last year and performed exceptionally well at the global box office. Directed by Aditya Dhar and led by Ranveer Singh, the earlier part reportedly crossed the Rs 1000 crore mark worldwide, raising the bar for the sequel.

Riding on this momentum, Dhurandhar 2 came with huge expectations and is continuously breaking multiple box office records. Also, it has become Ranveer Singh's second back-to-back blockbuster within just a few months, leaving the actor and his fans beaming with joy.

The film was earlier expected to face a box office clash with Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash. However, with the latter now pushed to June, the sequel is enjoying a solo release, giving it a major edge in terms of screen count and collections.

The story takes the narrative forward into a darker and more intense world of espionage. This time, the plot follows an Indian undercover agent who travels to Pakistan for a high-risk mission. Set against the tense backdrop of Karachi, the film showcases his journey as he navigates constant danger, unexpected betrayals, and powerful adversaries.

Picking up after the events of the first film, the sequel explores the aftermath of Hamza eliminating Rehmat Dakait. Ranveer Singh's character is now revealed as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, stepping into a mission that is far more dangerous and complex than before. With elevated stakes and gripping twists, the film aims to deliver a high-octane cinematic experience.

Mounted on a grand scale, Dhurandhar 2 is reportedly made on a combined budget of around Rs 300 crore for both parts, highlighting the makers' ambitious vision for the franchise.

DHURANDHAR 2 OTT RELEASE DATE: WHERE WILL DHURANDHAR STREAM ONLINE?

Dhurandhar 2 is likely to make its way to JioHotstar, marking a noticeable change for the franchise. The first installment had premiered on Netflix and went on to enjoy a strong and long-lasting digital run, but the sequel is going to take a different route with its OTT partner.

Reports suggest that the digital rights of the film have been sold at a significant price, with the deal estimated to be around Rs 150 crore. As of now, the makers have not announced an official OTT release date. However, the film is expected to not stream on OTT before June.

Sharing similar sentiments, a source exclusively opened up about the same to Filmibeat after the film's theatrical release and stated, "Given the phenomenal response that Dhurandhar 2 is receiving at the box office, the makers are in no rush to bring it on OTT. The film is performing exceptionally well, and the team is currently focused on enjoying this successful theatrical run."

The source added, "As things stand, it is highly unlikely that Dhurandhar 2 will arrive on OTT before mid-May or June. The priority right now is to maximise its big-screen run, considering the strong footfall and continued audience demand."

The final release date will largely depend on how the film performs at the box office in the coming weeks.
