Dhurandhar marks Ranveer Singh's return to the big screen after a two-year gap following the success of Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, as Singham Again did not feature him in a lead role. Madhavan essays the role of intelligence strategist Ajay Sanyal, a character said to be loosely inspired by India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Akshaye Khanna plays Rehman Dakait, a ruthless crime lord with strong real-world parallels, while Arjun Rampal portrays ISI officer Major Iqbal, believed to be inspired by militant Ilyas Kashmiri.

Sanjay Dutt appears as SP Chaudhary Aslam, a formidable Pakistani police officer. Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi round off the cast with important supporting roles, adding depth to the narrative.
