Story

The roly-poly tax inspector who aspires to be a singer, Bharat Bhushan (Vinay Pathak), is back to deep-fry the viewers brain in Bheja Fry 2. Bhushan moves ahead with his ambition and participates in a game show. He wins a cash prize with which he can make a music album and a free stay on a cruise ship. It is on the cruise when he meets Ajit Talwar (Kay Kay Menon), a corrupt business tycoon.

The story moves ahead with a touch of romance when Bhushan falls in love with Rajini (Minnisha Lamba), a media executive of the game show that Bhushan won. The cruise becomes a perfect rendezvous where everyone realises what a pain Bhushan is.

Plus Points

The sole reason why Bheja Fry 2 works is because of Vinay Pathak, who alone carries off the brand Bheja Fry on his shoulders. Minissha looks gorgeous and plays her part well. Kay Kay is efficient (cannot be blamed for his not working chemistry with Pathak). Amole Gupte is disheartening, probably because of the character he played. Suresh Menon is good. Rest were okay.

Loops Holes

Looks like Bollywood is falling short of story ideas, or is it that they are trying to compensate the success of a film by making a sequel. Let me assure you that not all sequels promise success. After the great success of Bheja Fry, director Sagar Bellary had a huge pressure of making the sequel into a far bigger sensation. But for the matter of fact the sequel fails. Though the setting is bigger and better, the matter fails to impress. There are a few moments that you carry home, but not the whole film.

There are varied reasons. One, the substance in Bheja Fry 2 is missing. Two, the humour quotient is lower than expected. Three, the chemistry between Kay Kay Menon and Vinay Pathak is a great disappointment after watching the hilarious jodi of Pathak with Rajat Kapoor in the first film. The screenplay lacks the punch. Dialogues are dum and lack wit.

Bheja Fry 2 promised two spirited track, 'Ishq Da Keeda' and 'Rahi Rahi'. But only the later is included that to at the end of the film during the final credits.

Over All

Over all, Bheja Fry 2 will work on the support of its previous brand name. Sadly, but it fails to work.
