Film Bubble Gum written and directed by Sanjivan Lal is a piece of work which does not hold ones notice at the very first go. Bubble Gum is set in Jamshedpur in 1970s/1980s. The film reveals the story of coming of age of Vedant (Delzad), who has a crush on Jenny. The film moves on to show his relationship with his parents (Sachin Khedekar, Tanvi Azmi)and brother Vidur (Sohail). Vedant undergoes a turbulent phase which transforms him and he discovers the true meaning of love and life.
Bubble Gum transports you back to your childhood and all the credit goes to the writer-director Sanjivan Lal. He has very beautifully written the happy and the difficult phases of a teenage life. He effortlessly tells us a tale which makes you feel that some where down the line it is your own story. Bubble Gum is heart-warming, funny, dramatic, tense and rich of emotions.
Bubble Gum is a refreshing story which has been beautifully portrayed by each artiste in the film. The young actors in the film Sohail, Delzad, Ratan, Partho and Jenny deliver an endearing performances. All of them share natural on-screen chemistry. The parents portrayed by Tanvi Azmi and Sachin Khedekar have also done a wonderful job.
On the whole, a film like Bubble Gum will definitely not be a Box Office buster, however a genuine and honest effort like Bubble Gum should always be encouraged so that more new writers and directors like Sanjivan Lal come ahead and continue creating magic on-screen.
