Hum
Tum
Shabana
can
be
listed
alongside
the
Golmaal
brand
of
movies
with
director
Sagar
Ballary
who
has
attempted
a
complete
entertainer.
Realism
along
with
some
humorous
situations
makes
the
film
a
worthwhile
watch.
Hum
Tum
Shabana
is
what
Tushaar
Kapoor
said....
“It"s
not
just
a
slapstick
comedy.
Sagar
Ballary"s
sense
of
realism
mixes
well
with
humorous
situations".
The
unique
story
line
combined
with
loads
of
laughter
makes
it
very
entertaining
in
the
first
half.
The
first
hour,
especially
is
filled
with
real
life
humorous
situation
that
is
laughable.
Funny
and
witty
one
liners
makes
you
smile
and
even
laugh
aloud
at
times.
However,
the
screenplay
falters
towards
the
second
half.
The
director
somehow
seems
to
have
lost
his
direction,
trying
to
deliberately
put
in
comic
situations.
Story
Shreyas
Talpade
(Karthik)
and
Tushar
Kapoor
(Rishi)
are
two
young
upcoming
executives
working
with
an
event
management
firm.
Their
lives
revolve
around
obtaining
a
a
white
collar
life
style
and
not
to
mention,
a
cute
secretary.
However,
all
their
professional
ambitions
go
down
the
drain
when
they
lose
out
on
the
much
awaited
promotion,
thanks
to
their
new
boss
played
by
Rahul
Singh.
The
trio
takes
up
for
Goa
where
a
beauty
pageant
is
being
organised.
They
decide
to
find
themselves
a
girlfriend.
The
object
of
their
affection
is
Shabana
Raza,
(Minissha
Lamba)
who
is
one
of
the
participants
in
the
event.
Trying
to
pass
off
as
a
21-year-old,
Minissha
is
unhappy
with
the
vibes
she
receives
from
her
colleagues.
Often
in
tears,
she's
ready
to
give
up
but
our
heroes
keep
emerging
from
places
and
shamelessly
manipulate
the
judges
and
hand
out
inside
information
–
anything
to
make
sure
that
Minissha
win…s.
The
lady
however
has
a
few
well-guarded
secrets.
Hum
Tum
Shabana
is
like
a
'Tom
and
Jerry" tale
–
lovable
characters
and
funny.
The
characters,
witty
dialogues,
setting
and
situations
–
all
are
perfect.
However,
due
to
the
tremendous
disappointment
of
the
screenplay
in
the
second
hour,
the
film
fails
to
create
the
much
needed
'magic'.
There
is
too
much
of
everything
in
it
–
masala,
humour,
songs.
The
audience
is
at
a
loss
to
understand
what
the
director
Sagar
Ballary
intends
to
convey.
Hum
Tum
Shabana
is
unable
to
hold
your
interest
for
long
and
thus
fails
to
create
the
magic.
The
music
of
Hum
Tum
Shabana
by
Sachin-Jigar
is
nice.
'Hey
Na
Na
Na
Shabana'
and
'Music
Bandh
Na
Karo'
sounds
good
to
the
ears.
The
dialogues
by
Sharat
Kataria
is
commendable
considering
that
it
is
difficult
to
write
funny
dialogues
that
compliment
the
mood
of
the
film.
Performances
Tusshar
Kapoor
and
Shreyas
Talpade's
comic
timing
is
brilliant.
They
are
two
very
talented
actors,
and
they
have
proved
that
again
with
Hum
Tum
Shabana.
The
performance
of
the
leading
lady,
Minissha
Lamba
is
decent.
However,
she
has
nothing
much
to
do,
especially
in
the
second
half.
Satish
Kaushik's
comic
timing
is
outstanding.
He
along
with
Sanjay
Mishra
gives
you
many
reasons
to
laugh.
Pia
Trivedi
is
glamorous
and
does
well,
considering
that
Hum
Tum
Shabana
is
her
debut
film.
Overall,
Hum
Tum
Shabana
is
just
about
average.
