Tere
Mere
Phere,
directed
by
Deepa
Sahi
falls
under
the
'slapstick
comedy" category
of
Priyadarshan
and
Aneez
Azmi.
Ample
films
have
been
made
with
marriage
as
the
backdrop.
Stories
on
the
problems
and
'trauma" that
accompanies
marriage
has
been
hashed
and
rehashed
several
times
before.
Tere
Mere
Phere
is
yet
another
attempt
in
that
genre.
The
film
is
a
comical
take
on
love
and
marriage.
Deepa
Sahi
undoubtedly
has
a
flair
for
handling
comic
genres.
The
director
finds
a
humorous
angle
in
the
most
serious
situations
–
Full
marks
to
Deepa
on
that
front.
She,
along
with
Jagrat
Desai
has
penned
the
script
of
the
film.
There
is
no
doubt
Tere
Mere
Phere
does
boast
of
a
few
comical
situations
and
funny
scenes
here
and
there.
However,
after
a
point,
many
sequences
in
the
film
seem
far
etched
and
therefore
difficult
to
digest.
The
constant
war
of
words
between
the
newly-married
couple
looks
artificial
and
even
irritating
after
a
point.
The
non
stop
arguments
and
nagging
gets
on
to
your
nerves
and
you
feel
like
tearing
your
hair
apart!
Though
the
first
half
is
bearable
and
gives
you
few
reasons
to
smile,
the
screenplay
dips
drastically
in
the
second
half
when
Vinay
Pathak
decides
to
back
off
from
marrying
Riya
Sen.
The
jokes
cracked
are
not
even
funny.
The
cinematography
is
brilliant,
having
beautifully
captured
the
breath
taking
locales
of
the
Himalayas.
The
music
is
average.
Story
Pooja
(Sasha
Goradia)
and
Rahul
(Jagrat
Desai)
have
had
a
perfect
love
marriage
and
have
been
married
only
for
three
days.
The
two
set
out
for
a
dream
honeymoon
to
the
breath-taking
Himalayas
in
a
self
driven
motor
home.
As
Pooja
and
Rahul
get
closer,
a
series
of
absurd
fights
abrupts
and
soon
the
couple
are
at
loggerheads.
In
the
course
of
their
journey,
they
meet
up
with
a
local
Himachali
small-town
guy
named
Jai,
played
by
Vinay
Pathak.
He
boards
the
caravan
in
a
desperate
attempt
to
reach
ladylove
Muskaan
(Riya
Sen)
before
she
gets
married
off
to
someone
else.
However,
Rahul
and
Pooja's
constant
bickering
gets
so
irritating
(literally)
Jai
loses
faith
in
the
institution
of
marriage
and
decides
to
back
out
from
marrying
Muskaan.
Performances
Vinay
Pathak
is
a
natural
actor,
and
shat
shows.
He
is
pretty
convincing
in
the
role
that
he
portrays.
Jagrat
is
good,
whereas
Sasha
needs
more
chances
to
prove
her
acting
abilities.
Riya
Sen
doesn"t
quite
fit
in
the
film
as
she
is
too
glamorous
with
a
strong
western
accent.
The
other
actors
including
Sushmita
Mukherjee
are
just
about
okay.
Overall,
Tere
Mere
Phere
is
a
low
key
affair
as
it
fails
to
connect
with
the
audiences.
