War Chhod Na Yaar Movie Review: Kargil War In A Comic Lens
It's been quite a while that Bollywood has touched upon the theme of war and battles on screen. Today, with the release of War Chhod Na Yaar, war comes alive on the silver screen but it's going to have a pinch of comedy to it.
This movie will go down in History as India's first war comedy film. War Chhod Na Yaar is not just another comedy film that is trying hard to make people laugh. The humour in the film has many layers to it. It is spoofy, situational and slapstick.
Story
Soha
Ali
Khan
plays
the
role
of
Rut
Dutta,
a
reporter
of
Tez
Channel.
The
movie
kicks
off
with
Rut
getting
an
opportunity
to
cover
a
war
between
India
and
Pakistan.
She
heads
off
to
the
Indo-Pak
border
and
there
meets
Sharman
Joshi
who
plays
Raj,
the
captain
of
Indian
army.
Soon
we
are
introduced
to
the
other
characters
in
the
film.
Jaaved
Jaaferi
is
on
the
other
side
of
the
border
as
he
plays
Qureshi,
captain
of
Pakistan
army.
The war is usually shown from outside perspective in a serious genre. Here we get to see it like a spoof. Although we can spot quite a few flaws in the film, we think it's a decent job from director Faraz Haider as he has crafted this piece of art with some freshness.

done

fabulous
job.
He
has
submitted
himself
to
the
character
and
given
his
best.
Javed
Jaafery,
who
has
entertained
in
his
past
films
keeps
up
his
tag
has
a
talented
actor
and
he
does
put
on
a
good
show
for
us.
Soha
Ali
Khan
has
put
herself
in
the
shoes
of
a
reporter
and
takes
us
for
a
ride
through
the
Kargil
war.
Verdict
Last
week's
Besharam
claimed
to
be
a
mass
entertainer
and
failed.
Although
War
Chhod
Na
Yaar
has
stayed
low
in
promotions,
the
director
has
done
a
decent
job.
It
deserves
appreciation
for
freshness.
We
think
you
can
go
for
it
as
you
will
see
the
Kargil
war
from
a
new
lens.

Comic Lens
Instead of focusing on the rage factor of the war, director Faraz Haider chose to give this a fresh perspective. This is a sort of new genre by itself.
Battle Field
The battle field is totally not what we expect it to be. It's more like a comedy circus. This may seem silly but the point is it entertains us.

New Genre
The director is taking a risk by experimenting with this new genre in India. "I am trying a genre which the audience has not yet been introduced to. But I feel everyone will connect to my point of view," Haider said.
Message In The Movie
The movie does carry forward a meaningful message. It tells us that the war does not benefit us and it also tells whom does it actually benefit and it also tells us how to stop the war.
Realistic Cinema.
It is a realistic cinema. The makers haven't used lights for night scenes, instead all the lighting was of torches.
Reporter Soha
