Being
a
remake
of
Rekha's
1980
movie
by
the
same
name,
Khoobsurat
claimed
much
attention
as
to
whether
Sonam
Kapoor
will
be
able
to
match
the
excellence
of
the
legendary
actress
Rekha
or
end
up
being
another
Bewakoofiyaan.
Well,
as
a
tip-off
from
our
reviewer
from
the
film
premier,
the
movie
Khoobsurat
directed
by
Shashanka
Ghosh
is
most
likely
to
impress
and
delight
the
kids.
Produced
by
Disney,
Sonam
Kapoor's
Khoobsurat
appears
to
be
a
little
too
much
colourful.
While
the
original
version
of
the
film
featuring
Rekha
offered
a
much
more
sensible
and
an
all-round
performed
flick,
Sonam
Kapoor's
Khoobsurat
appeared
more
or
less
average.
The
movie
seemed
all
in
all
a
Sonam
Kapoor
film
with
nothing
much
left
for
the
other
actors
to
do.
However,
Ratna
Pathak
and
Kirron
Kher
offered
some
hilarious
moments,
Fawad
Khan
who
plays
the
Royal
Prince
had
nothing
much
to
offer
other
than
having
a
serious
look
on
his
face.
To
talk
about
the
story,
Sonam
Kapoor
as
Dr.
Mili
(physiotherapist)
gets
a
call
from
the
Royal
abode
to
cure
Fawad
Khan's
father
who
suffers
from
some
physical
disorder.
Ratna
Pathak
plays
Fawad
Khan's
mother
and
the
actress
had
very
limited
scope
to
exhibit
her
talent.
Kirron
Kher
appears
as
Sonam
Kapoor's
mother
who
added
most
of
the
fun
to
the
film.
Sonam
Kapoor
shows
that
she
is
a
mismatch
in
the
family
in
all
possible
ways.
In
the
course
of
time,
Sonam
Kapoor
who
otherwise
is
a
complete
misfit
in
regard
to
the
Royal
etiquette
falls
in
love
with
Fawad
Khan.
Sonam
and
Fawad's
chemistry
was
good
but
to
know
what
happens
to
the
love
story,
you
will
have
to
watch
the
film.
Although
Khoobsurat
is
hard
to
impress
the
audience
(except
below
16),
the
second
half
of
the
movie
seemed
interesting
as
compared
to
the
first
half.
Khoobsurat
will
not
disappoint
you
only
if
you
have
never
watched
Rekha's
version
of
the
film.

Sonam
Kapoor
The
film
focused
a
lot
on
Sonam
Kapoor's
attire
and
looks
rather
than
her
acting.
Sonam
Kapoor-Fawad
Khan
One
of
the
few
positive
aspects
from
the
movie
is
the
chemistry
between
Sonam
and
Fawad,
however
that
also
could
not
lift
the
movie
to
reach
its
expectations.
Sonam
Kapoor
Too
Colourful
Being
produced
by
Disney,
the
film
seemed
to
be
way
too
colourful
in
terms
of
the
presentation
and
characters,
which
makes
us
believe
that
the
film
is
more
for
the
kids.
Ratna
Pathak
Ratna
Pathak
is
one
talented
actress
who
unfortunately
was
given
very
limited
scope
to
display
her
brilliant
comic
timing.
However,
the
actress
did
well
in
whatever
scope
she
had.
Kirron
Kher
Kirron
Kher
can
be
called
the
saviour
of
the
film,
if
at
all
it
survives,
as
she
offered
some
funny
moments,
thanks
to
her
amazing
comic
timing.
Fawad
Khan
Although
Fawad
Khan
has
already
proved
his
mettle
as
an
actor,
the
film
Khoobsurat
did
not
offer
this
Pakistani
actor
much
in
the
area
of
expressions,
other
than
wearing
a
serious
look.
However,
he
did
justice
to
his
role.
Sonam-Fawad
Although
all
the
characters
were
okay
in
their
performance,
the
main
drawback
is
the
story
telling.
When
you
are
making
a
remake
of
an
already
hit
flick
that
too
having
an
actress
like
Rekha,
the
director
should
have
been
extra
cautious
about
the
plot
and
presentation.
Sonam
With
Fawad
All
in
all,
Shashanka
Ghosh's
Khoobsurat
can
be
a
one-time
watch.
But
be
aware,
comparisons
with
Rekha's
version
will
surely
disappoint
you.
