Priyanka Chopra who has transformed herself into MC Kom on-screen has the never say never attitude . She is the gritty boxer from Manipur who makes her dream into Olympic medal-winning reality!
Entering a gender-dominated boxing ring is not a joke. However, MC Kom aka Priyanka just takes us on a journey of self-discovery where she turns from a poor rural girl from Manipur to Olympics.
Director Omung Kumar has brought in that precise feeling which will inspire all of us who watches the movie. Farhan Akhtar, Seema Biswas, Ben Kingsley have all inspired many by turning into the real-life character on-screen earlier. But, Mary Kom is just unexplainable.
Hats off to the debutant director Omung Kumar for bringing us one of the most inspiring biopics.
From the time the coach screams at Mary Kom, 'Mujhe bronze pasand nahin aata', till she ends up winning a gold, the narrative is just so awesome. The story goes back in time, where MC Kom (Priyanka) is shown as a person who is just not affected by any gender discriminations.
MC Kom is seen having a scuffle with a school bully very early in the narrative. Later on she takes on another far more dangerous bully who threatens to destroy her boxing career. This is how Mary is, she never stops fighting for the cause, in and out of the arena.
"The rest of the world may be round. But your world is this square ring," her coach reminds her pointing to the boxing arena. The struggle, grit, transformation, winning style are those emotions which Mary Kom depicts and takes us all through the movie. That forms the rest of the story which you have to watch it in big screen and not read it here.
Cinematographer Keiko Nakahara takes us all through the rough terrains of Manipur beautifully. A place where a girl child is a curse and a girl who fights to become a boxer, is the real struggle.
The director has not made the narrative too lengthy and stretch it. He has shown Priyanka as both a ferocious fighter as well as a tender mother.
Priyanka Chopra as expected has given her best performance. This will redefine her career in Bollywood. No other actress would have done justice to the role as much as she has.
The wonderful narrative, cinematography blended with excellent music composed by Shashi Suman and Shivum makes Mary Kom one hell of a movie which will win every heart in the country.
Mary Kom is an inspirational biopic from the first frame till the end. Omung Kumar has no doubt weaved the story so well that every person who watches this film will for sure get inspired.
Priyanka Chopra's masterclass performance goes without saying. Overall this awe strucking journey of MC Kom is all about getting inspired. There are no negatives which can be pointed out as a negative.
This film is waiting to give Box Office a superb collection for a woman-centric film.
