Zid Movie Review: Sinful And Erotic

Although the director walked out of the project due to creative differences, the movie Zid is releasing today starring Priyanka Chopra's cousin Mannara, Karanvir Sharma and Shraddha Das.

Zid is all about love, sex, desire, revenge and murder. It is an erotic thriller produced by Anubhav Sinha.

Story

Karanvir Sharma is a crime reporter who works for a local newspaper in Goa. Mannara is his beautiful neighbour in Goa who falls head over heels in love with Karanvir. The couple decides to take their relationship forward and goes out on a date one stormy night.

While returning, they meet with an accident which results in the death of a teenage girl. After the panic and tense moment, Mannara convinces Karanvir to report the death to the police as a hit and run case.

As the story goes on with such lies, betrayals, obsessions, possessiveness, jealousy, what's the end result of the protagonist forms the crux of the film Zid.

Review

Zid was promoted by Priyanka Chopra in support of her cousin Mannara. Barbie Handa rechristened as Mannara for Bollywood by the makers of this film has done a decent work as far as acting is concerned. The erotic thriller has everything in store for the audience from several lip locks to intimate scenes.

As the saying goes, 'sex sells', so is this movie which is all about eroticism, sex, intimate scenes, etc. The audience has seen enough films like Jism, Hate Story, Ragini MMS, etc.

However, the makers have decided to go with yet another such genre to get the audience's attention. Zid project which was started and directed by Vivek Agnihotri as a thriller, suddenly took a turn and became an erotic sex thriller. This creative difference made Vivek Agnihotri to disassociate himself from the project.

Zid stars Karanvir Sharma, Mannara and Shraddha Das who have all debuted into Bollywood. Karanvir as a hardcore romantic gives his best shot but falters. Mannara fails to do justice to her role as well.

Although the story goes on with the same old concept of love, sex, betrayal, obsession, the music of this film is extraordinary. In the soulful voice of Arijit Singh 'Tu Zaroori', 'Saanso Ko' and 'Mareez-e-Ishq' have all come out as chartbusters.

Cinematography is good. The evergreen, beautiful picturesque locations of Goa are never too boring anytime we see them on-screen.

Zid is a botched attempt at making a thriller and falls flat with the forgettable performances by the star cast.

Watch this flick only if you are too bored in life.

Barbie Handa

Vivek Agnihotri says, "The most crucial scenes of the film with one major song are being done by them. Even the star cast was brought in (signed up) to be a part of a psychological thriller and not an erotic thriller. Of the star cast, the film's heroine Barbie Handa is my discovery, who is a name to watch out for in the days to come."

Intimate Scenes

Watch out for some intimate scenes which are even termed as vulgar. Mannara has not shown her bold avatar to do such scenes with her co-star.

Erotic Thriller

The movie which started as a thriller became an erotic thriller. When the first poster of the film was out with Mannara baring it all, the audiences were curious to know what is this film about.

Zid

In Bollywood, erotic films like Zid have come aplenty, still the makers have belief in their story. Karanvir Sharma as a debutant actor has done the film with confidence.

Anubhav Sinha says, "I call it my tribute to Muhesh Bhatt for fun. He's created this genre in India and has been successful at it. If you ask me, I think Zid is very sexy and sinful. It's fun, thrilling and adult. It's a story of a man who is loved by two women and one of them is obsessive in nature."

Shraddha Das

Zid is only about erotic scenes, intimacy, obsessin, revenge. Watch it only if you are too bored.
