ABCD 2 Movie Review: Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor Steal The Show

ABCD, a dance movie directed by choreographer turned director, Remo D'Souza was a blockbuster hit. This movie showed how the presence of big stars don't matter but a good script, direction and awesome performances even from reality show dancers is enough to make an entertaining and hit movie.

The sequel ABCD 2 directed by the same man stars Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor along with Prabhu Deva playing a pivotal role in the movie. The concept of dance has already clicked with the youth and the 3D special effect will only make their experience much better.

ABCD 2 Plot:

The movie begins with a dance competition where after the performance of Suresh (Varun Dhawan) and his troupe, judges accuse them of copying the act of a Philippines dance troupe. The judges ask him how he could do such a thing, being the son of a talented and renowned dancer. His deceased mother was a Padmashri award winner.

The young dejected boy from Mumbai suburbs then decides to avenge the insult by participating in the Las Vegas dance competition with the intention of Indians outdoing the foreigners in their competition.

Vinnie (Shraddha Kapoor), his love is also part of his dance troupe, with whom he plans to win the World Dance Competition and fulfill his mother's dream.

At this point in the story, he runs into Vishnu Sir (Prabhudeva) in a pub where he is now working. The duo have a little dance off after which Suresh tries to convince him to train his troupe for the dance competition.

At the entry level, when people call them cheaters, it is Vishnu who convinces them to give this dance troupe another chance, but Vishnu would have really come to Vegas to meet his son.

How will the manage to beat the other groups, what problems they face and Suresh-Vinnie's romance forms the crux of the story.

ABCD 2 Performances:

We have seen Varun Dhawan's dancing talents as well as the acting chops in his earlier movies but with ABCD 2, he takes it a step further and blows our mind with his awesome dancing skills.

Shraddha Kapoor on the other hand amazes us with her dance performances and shocks us as well. Their on-screen chemistry sets the screen on fire but there is not much to judge on the acting performances, since there is very less acting and more dancing in this movie. Prabhudeva manages to hold his ground with his realistic and simplistic acting.

ABCD 2 Technicalities.

The music score by Sachin-Jigar was an instant hit, direction by Remo is also good but the initial over dramatic scenes in the movie kind of put us off.

There is no story as such but the dance elements keep you entertained and thrilled. It may not be of those Hollywood dance movies' level, but it is no less than that either.

The 3D effects in the dance sequences were also really good.

ABCD 2 Review Verdict:

ABCD 2 is a great movie for the weekend watch, irrespective of the age, you can enjoy this good 3D dance movie and have a smile on your face through out. Filmibeat verdict says, ABCD 2 is a must watch on this great weekend.
