Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Viewers Review: Climax Is The Spoiler

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is thrilling and captivating in spite of it's slow narration. The movie had high hopes, due to Dibakar Banerjee's direction and Sushant Singh Rajput's presence and like the movie's tagline "Expect the unexpected," the makers delivered what they promised.

The movie is set in the 1940's pre independence era of Calcutta. where our hero, Sushant Singh Rajput sporting a uni-brow essays the role of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. Anand Tiwari who plays the role of a struggling writer, Ajit comes to Byomkesh with a case of his missing father, Bhuvan Banerjee.

Byomkesh is sure that Bhuvan is murdered and thus to proof this theory sets upon the solving the case with the help of Dr. Anukul Guha (Neeraj Kabi) who owns the boarding lodge where Bhuvan was staying. As the story proceeds and different characters get linked to this murder, does Byomkesh realize that Anukul was also part of this murder mystery.

The deeper he goes into solving the case, bigger names get come up, from politician Gajanan Sikdar, drug dealing Chinese gangs to Japanese military invasion plan. Admist all this he comes across the seductive Aguri Devi (Swatika Mukherjee) who throws him off the trail, confusing him and Satyavati (Divya Menon) , the politician's niece who ends up developing a soft corner in Byomkesh's heart.

Now, each of these characters are linked to one another and how the Japanese and Chinese people get involved forms the crux of the story.
