Detective
Byomkesh
Bakshy
is
thrilling
and
captivating
in
spite
of
it's
slow
narration.
The
movie
had
high
hopes,
due
to
Dibakar
Banerjee's
direction
and
Sushant
Singh
Rajput's
presence
and
like
the
movie's
tagline
"Expect
the
unexpected," the
makers
delivered
what
they
promised.
The
movie
is
set
in
the
1940's
pre
independence
era
of
Calcutta.
where
our
hero,
Sushant
Singh
Rajput
sporting
a
uni-brow
essays
the
role
of
Detective
Byomkesh
Bakshy.
Anand
Tiwari
who
plays
the
role
of
a
struggling
writer,
Ajit
comes
to
Byomkesh
with
a
case
of
his
missing
father,
Bhuvan
Banerjee.
Byomkesh
is
sure
that
Bhuvan
is
murdered
and
thus
to
proof
this
theory
sets
upon
the
solving
the
case
with
the
help
of
Dr.
Anukul
Guha
(Neeraj
Kabi)
who
owns
the
boarding
lodge
where
Bhuvan
was
staying.
As
the
story
proceeds
and
different
characters
get
linked
to
this
murder,
does
Byomkesh
realize
that
Anukul
was
also
part
of
this
murder
mystery.
The
deeper
he
goes
into
solving
the
case,
bigger
names
get
come
up,
from
politician
Gajanan
Sikdar,
drug
dealing
Chinese
gangs
to
Japanese
military
invasion
plan.
Admist
all
this
he
comes
across
the
seductive
Aguri
Devi
(Swatika
Mukherjee)
who
throws
him
off
the
trail,
confusing
him
and
Satyavati
(Divya
Menon)
,
the
politician's
niece
who
ends
up
developing
a
soft
corner
in
Byomkesh's
heart.
Now,
each
of
these
characters
are
linked
to
one
another
and
how
the
Japanese
and
Chinese
people
get
involved
forms
the
crux
of
the
story.
