Khamoshiyan Movie Review: Ali Fazal-Gurmeet-Sapna Impress You

Yet another horror movie has released today or the makers very fondly call it, an erotic thriller, Khamoshiyan. Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt have produced this film in association with Vishesh Films. The makers are horror and thriller movie experts but it has been some time since we have seen a good movie from the Bhatt camp and Mahesh promises that Khamoshiyan will deliver our expectations.

Bhatt expressed, "KHAMOSHIYAN deals with a woman who is talking about female sexual desire, and you can't talk about equality if you keep female in sexual solitude. And by that we are not promoting free sex and of women being emancipated. We are not saying that at all. And that is what the basic plot of KHAMOSHIYAN is."

Well, let's see what the movie is really about...

Plot:

The movie revolves around this young writer, Kabir (Ali Fazal) who is hurt and in pain owing to his love leaving him for another man. In order to overcome this pain, move on and seek inspiration for his new book, Kabir heads to Kashmir. There is meets Meera (Sapna Pabbi) who is the care taker of the guest house which is owned by her husband Jaidev (Gurmeet Choudhary). Jaidev was a wealthy businessman who owned a paper mill, but later he lost it all and is now left with just a guest house.

There is a controlling demon inside Jaidev, which makes him unwell and bed ridden, so he asks his wife to run the guest house for him. Kabir finds the place a bit eerie, as he starts to prod things around, he finds that his place and Meera both are hiding a big secret. Meera's silence over his questions and discoveries make him more curious and at the same time, more drawn to her.

What happens to Kabir and Meera's new found love and what happens to the demonic Jaidev forms the crux of the story.

Performances:

Kabir is not new to acting in films, unlike his co-stars, The actor has played a variety of roles in the past and even though the producers never pictured him for the Kabir role, a brooding lover character, director Karan's choice could not have been better. Kabir plays his role very convincingly and his intense love scenes with Sapna too is super hot. Gurmeet has done a fab job, considering this was his debut movie, the actor definitely has the talent which will be taken a long way by the Bhatt camp who have signed a three film deal with the actor.

Coming to the seductress, Sapna Pabbi, her chemistry with both the actors was equally hot and believable. She probably needs to improve a little bit more or may the fact that the other two actors stole the show may have left Sapna lagging behind.

Technicalities:

The concept is not new! But the way director Karan has portrayed is definitely new, fresh and grasping. Vikram Bhatt who has written the screenplay of the movie has done a decent job. The film is slow in the beginning but later picks up the much needed speed else the audience would have ended up sleeping in a horror-thriller movie.

Songs are many, while all are not super-hit, they are melodious! The picturization of each of these songs were sensuous and enthralling.

Verdict:

There are not many scary elements in the movie, but every now and then the director does many to spook you mildly. If not for the scary thriller elements, you can watch Khamoshiyan for it's erotic portion.
