Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho Movie Review: Deals A Serious Issue In An Unserious Way

Rape has been a very serious issue in India as statistics suggest that one girl gets raped in every 10 minutes in our country. On the other side, there have been many cases in which false rape allegations were put on innocent men. The movie Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho deals with both this issues in a funny satirical manner.

The movie revolves around Rahul Bagga (Arjun Prasad), who loves a young married woman, Hrishitaa Bhatt (Maya) of the village and she happens to be the village head's wife. The Village head Annu Kapoor (Sualaal Gandass) comes to know about this and falsely accuses him of raping the most 'beautiful' buffalo of the village 'Miss Tanakpur'.

The Village head arranges an open meeting to discuss the issue in the presence of all the inhabitants of the area and eventually, the case gets in the Court. The village headman not only false accuses the young man of raping the buffalo, he also demands that the accused have to marry the buffalo now. Miss Tanakpur Hazir Ho is all about how the entire episode affects Miss Tanakpur and how she manages to escape from all the legal troubles. Sounds weird? It really is.

Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho Performances:

The film features some of the finest actors of Bollywood, namely Om Puri, Annu Kapoor, Sanjay Mishra, Ravi Kishan among others and we can be pretty sure that they would be good in their performance. Om Puri and Annu Kapoor offered some good comedy but it seemed a bit over-acting at times.

Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho Direction:

Director Vinod Kapri as a debutant did a nice job. The film includes a lot of sattire and the director was successful in presenting the same with a taste of humour. Although, there are certain points when the movie seemed over-stretched, Kapri was creative enough to bring the humour back.

Satires are always entertaining to watch and Miss Tanakpur Hazir Ho also comes under the same genre. The film has a number of weird yet funny moments, coupled with double meaning punch lines which will make you laugh and at the same time, think about the serious issue.

It is a comedy drama but at times the movie seems over-dramatic. While, it needs a lot of sensibility along with good sense of humour, in order to make a satire on an issue like rape, the director lacked in both the aspects at certain points as some dialogues don't appear to be in good taste.
