3.0/5

The year was 2000 when Hrithik Roshan's smashing Bollywood debut in papa Rakesh Roshan's Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai made him an overnight sensation. And why not? The film had all the ingredients of a blockbuster- a sensational lead pair, intriguing plot and of course, Rajesh Roshan's chartbuster music that hold a special place in our hearts even today. This was followed by Koi...Mil Gaya, Krrish and Krrish 3.

Now, the trio have reunited again for Sanjay Gupta's revenge thriller Kaabil. Will they be able to weave magic once again? Let's find out...

kaabil

Music: Rajesh Roshan

1. Kaabil Hoon

Singers: Jubin Nautiyal, Palak Muchchal

Lyrics: Nasir Faraaz

Our Take: The title track carries a 90s vibe and is soothing to the ears. Jubin Nautiyal and Palak Muchchal's voice bring Nasir Faraaz's beautiful lyrics to life and makes it a hands down winner.

There is even a sad version of this number in the soundtrack which depicts the pain and angst of the male lead after he loses his beloved one. But our vote goes to the first one.

2. Haseeno Ka Deewana

Singers: Raftaar and Payal Dev

Lyrics: Anjaan

Recreated by: Gourov-Roshin

Our Take: Payal Dev's edgy voice lends the revamped version of Amitabh Bachchan's Saara Zamaana from Yaarana a new-age twist but we feel that the makers could have done away with Raftaar's rap. However, the song does make up for a foot-tapping number though some people might say 'Old Is Gold'. Because oh, we missed you Kishore da!

3. Kuch Din

Singers: Jubin Nautiyal

Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir

Our Take: The slow ballad lacks the essence of romance with its forgettable lyrics and fails to grow on you despite Jubin's best attempt to keep you invested. There is no harm in skipping this one.

4. Mon Amour

Singers: Vishal Dadlani

Lyrics: Manoj Muntashir

Our Take: After 'Ne dis jamais je t'aime', yet another French word makes its way in our dictionary! This time, it's Mon Amour which means 'My love' in English. Vishal Dadlani's peppy voice and Rajesh Roshan's energetic beats makes it a perfect song to do the tango. We are totally diggin' into this lovely composition which promises to be a visual treat with Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam's graceful dance moves.

5. Kisi Se Pyaar Ho Jaaye

Singers: Jubin Nautiyal

Additional Lyrics: Kumaar

Recreated by: Gourov-Roshin

Our Take: Remember the super hit track 'Dil Kya Kare' from Julie composed by Rajesh Roshan? The man gives the classic a makeover in Kaabil with additional lyrics by Kumaar. However, it fails to match up to the brilliance of the original song. Nevertheless, it still lands up in your playlist for the sentimental value.

Our Hot Picks: Kaabil Hoon, Mon Amour and Kisi Se Pyaar Ho Jaaye

Our Verdict: The soundtrack of Kaabil fits in sync with the theme of the film considering it manages to tap most of the emotions. This might not be one of Rajesh Roshan's best works but it definitely deserves a chance to be heard for old times' sake!
