Nope,
that
isn't
me
telling
you
folks!
It's
Arjun
Kapoor's
Param
in
Namaste
England
who
quips
this
while
playing
the
ultimate
lover
boy.
Unfortunately,
this
'pyaar' has
a
lot
of
shades
of
melodrama
that
drowns
the
sole
purpose
of
the
film
and
leaves
you
underwhelmed.
To
begin
with,
Param
(Arjun
Kapoor)
gets
besotted
with
Jasmeet
(Parineeti
Chopra)
when
he
watches
her
dancing
during
a
Dussehra
celebration.
Post
some
stunts
with
tractors
and
mandatory
dancing
in
'sarson
ka
khet',
love
happens
and
how.
Jasmeet
wishes
to
be
a
jewellery
designer,
but
her
father
and
brother
discourage
her
from
pursuing
her
dreams
because
'Aurauton

kaam
hai
marddon
ka
pett

fact,
they
even
agree
to
wed
her
off
to
Param,
on
the
condition
that
she
will
not
work
post
marriage.
After
marriage,
she
reveals
her
dream
of
an
independent
working
life
in
London.
She
even
tries
to
coax
Param
to
get
a
London
citizenship
even
if
it
means
resorting
to
illegal
means.
But
our
hero
is
a
man
of
principles
and
rejects
her
ideas.
Unknown
to
him,
Jasmeet
comes
up
with
a
risky
plan
to
fulfill
her
ambitions.
While
Namaste
England
initially
talks
about
women
empowerment
and
feminism
through
Jasmeet's
character,
it
suddenly
loses
its
voice
when
the
makers
chooses
to
throw
the
spotlight
on
Jasmeet's
London
dreams
instead.
Vipul
Shah's
direction
lacks
freshness
and
fails
to
bring
any
novelty
factor
on
the
big
screen.
The
film
suffers
from
shoddy
writing
and
lackluster
dialogues.
Speaking
about
performances,
Arjun
Kapoor
tries
his
level
best
to
add
some
gravitas
to
his
role.
But
alas,
the
mediocre
writing
doesn't
allow
to
him
to
rise
above
the
script.
Remember
Akshay
Kumar's
patriotic
speech
in
the
midst
of
Brits
in
'Namaste
London'?
A
similar
scene
makes
its
way
into
this
Arjun
Kapoor-Parineeti
Chopra
starrer,
but
fails
to
recreate
that
magic.
Parineeti
Chopra
suffers
from
a
ill-sketched
role
that
doesn't
to
justice
to
her
acting
chops.
But
yes,
she
looks
gorgeous
in
every
frame;
whether
it's
the
traditional
attires
or
the
western
outfits.
While
Arjun
Kapoor
and
Parineeti
Chopra
shared
a
sizzling
chemistry
in
their
debut
film,
'Ishaqzaade',
the
sizzles
'fizzle'
out
in
Namaste
England.
The
rest
of
the
cast
which
includes
Aditya
Seal,
Alankrita
Sahai,
Mallika
Dua

hat's
given

them.
Amitabh
Shukla's
editing
scissors

have
been
sharper.
Yiannis
Manolopoulos's
cinematography
perfectly
captures
every
beauty
in
the
frame.
Coming
to
the
music
department,
Bhare
Bazaar
and
Dhoom
Dhadaka
goes
with
the
flow
of
the
film.
'Tere
Liye'
and
'Tu
Mera
Main
Tera'
is
for
the
sentimental
souls.
There's
a
line
in
Namaste
England
where
Param
tells
Jasmeet,
"Pehli
Baar
Ek
Biwi
Ka
Affair
Kisi
Aadmi
Ke
Sath
Nahe...
Ek
Shahar
Ke
Sath
Dekha
Hai'.
Well,
that's
exactly
our
sentiments
echoed.
Namaste
England
strugges
to
stay
afloat.
I
am
going
with
2
stars.
