Review:
South
Indian
movies
have
been
grabbing
the
attention
of
the
Hindi
film
audiences,
especially
Telugu
movies.
But,
in
the
past,
a
few
Tamil
films,
which
were
dubbed
and
released
in
Hindi,
also
have
received
a
decent
to
average
response
at
the
box
office
in
the
Hindi
markets;
for
example,
Ponniyin
Selvan
franchise,
Vikram,
Robot
and
2.0
(great
response
in
Hindi).
Today,
Thalapathy
Vijay
starrer
Leo
has
hit
the
big
screens
and
it
is
also
dubbed
and
released
in
Hindi.
So,
will
this
film
finally
make
Vijay
a
pan-India
star?
Well,
we
doubt
it.
Leo
is
about
Parthi
(Thalapathy
Vijay)
who
is
living
at
a
hill
station
in
Himachal
Pradesh
with
his
wife
Satya
(Trisha)
and
two
kids.
One
day,
some
goons
come
to
his
cafe
and
to
save
his
daughter
and
an
employee,
Parthi
gets
into
a
fight
with
them
and
kills
them.
After
a
few
days,
some
other
goons
enter
Parthi's
life
and
claim
that
he
is
Leo.
So,
is
Parthi
staying
with
a
fake
name?
Is
there
someone
else
who
is
Leo?
These
things
take
the
story
forward.
The
movie
is
written
and
directed
by
Lokesh
Kanagaraj
who
is
known
for
making
movies
like
Kaithi,
Master,
and
Vikram.
All
these
films
were
appreciated
by
the
audiences
and
were
hits
at
the
box
office.
After
Master,
he
was
teaming
up
with
Vijay,
so
the
expectations
from
Leo
were
quite
high.
But,
we
are
left
disappointed.
Leo
offers
nothing
new
when
it
comes
to
the
story.
There
are
some
well-written
scenes
that
haven't
been
executed
properly
to
make
the
audience
excited
while
watching
it.
Also,
the
movie
is
predictable,
you
know
what's
going
to
happen
in
the
climax.
The
action
sequences,
that
should
have
been
the
highlight
of
the
film,
are
very
bland.
There
are
no
whistle-worthy
dialogues
that
you
would
remember.
Also,
the
biggest
shocking
element
about
Leo
is
that
the
music
is
composed
by
Anirudh
Ravichander
and
neither
the
songs
nor
the
background
score
is
good.
We
all
are
still
dancing
to
the
songs
of
Jawan
which
were
composed
by
Anirudh,
and
then
this
mediocre
album
surely
gives
us
a
shock.
Thalapathy
Vijay's
fans
will
also
be
disappointed.
No,
it's
not
like
he
hasn't
performed
well.
In
fact,
his
earnest
performance
is
the
only
saving
grace
of
the
film.
But,
it
is
disappointing
to
see
Vijay
in
a
movie
that
doesn't
do
justice
to
his
talent.
Beast,
Varisu,
and
now,
Leo,
the
actor
really
needs
to
be
choosy
when
he
picks
up
a
script.
The
movie
also
stars
actors
like
Trisha
and
Sanjay
Dutt.
While
the
actress
is
good
in
her
role,
Dutt's
character
looks
repetitive.
He
has
played
cigarette-smoking,
shouting
villains
in
his
past
few
films,
and
it's
time
that
the
actor
selects
a
good
script
soon.
He
still
has
fans
and
stardom,
and
that
we
saw
today
in
theatre.
When
Dutt's
entry
happened
people
shouted
and
hooted
for
him.
Just
one
great
script,
and
he
will
be
back
with
a
bang.
Overall,
Leo
is
a
boring
film
which
has
nothing
new
to
offer.
Even
if
you
are
a
Thalapathy
Vijay
fan,
skipping
this
would
be
a
good
idea.
Maybe
wait
for
its
OTT
release.
