Tiku Weds Sheru Review: Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Avneet Kaur Starrer Cute Romance Drama Is Visually Appealing

Tiku Weds Sheru Streaming: Amazon Prime Video
Tiku Weds Sheru Review: Everybody is a dreamer! We all have, at some point in our lives, dreamed of doing something big, either to prove ourselves to others or just to fulfil our passion.
Amazon Prime Videos' new offering, Tiku Weds Sheru, that dropped today also has a similar premise. We witness two eccentric individuals, with dreams in their eyes, living in parallel with a world that is full of struggles and unfairness, end up meeting and eventually falling for each other.
The film has been billed as a romantic comedy, showing the daily grind and exertion one has to go through each day to succeed in what they dream of, particularly in the glamour world.
Having said that, the film does not even come anywhere near its idea. It fails to create a lasting impression of those individuals who struggle to make it big in Bollywood and ends up being outright disappointing and mediocre.
Tiku Weds Sheru: Plot
Tiku Weds Sheru, directed by Sai Kabir and backed by actor Kangana Ranaut, is a story about Sheru (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who is a junior artist in Bollywood, hustling to make ends meet in the city.
His family arranges a match for him back in his hometown with a younger but irrepressible Tiku (Aveent Kaur). Tiku gets married to Sheru with some big plans of her own as a gateway to reach Mumbai.
Cut to Mumbai: from being a pimp to having connections with the drug mafia, Sheru is in a tussle to make everything good in life. On the other hand, Tiku dreams of becoming a superstar. However, one incident brings both closer, and love slowly blooms in a rather disgruntled couple.
But in her yearning to live a life of riches and make Tiku's desires true, Sheru gets caught up in drugs and all things illegal. To know what happens next, where their lives end, you need to watch it on Amazon Prime.
Tiku Weds Sheru: What's good?
The setting of the film and overall camera treatment get a mark. The film also gets some brownie points for its artistic and colourful frames.
It is visually appealing. The film's production design contributes to an aesthetic feeling that radiates the allure of the film industry.
The dialogues, too, are decent and fits the premise of the movie. Nawazuddin and Avneet's chemistry is also passable.
Tiku Weds Sheru: What's bad
Tiku Weds Sheru, from its beginning, has nothing significant to offer, while some characters in the movies are just there and have nothing major to add.
It has an extremely sluggish pace, and the crumbling story will even make an insomniac sleep. The music in the film is fresh and soulful, but not something that could be remembered forever. The narration is disjointed, and several subplots quiver without any exploration.
Tiku Weds Sheru: Performances
One of the finest actors in the country, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is just wasted in this film. He appears to be slightly out of shape. Though he looked effortless in his portrayal of Sheru, who is positively passionate about turning into a popular actor, he failed to impress with his acting.
The attempt to make Nawazuddin appear as an atypical Bollywood lover and romantic hero, actually takes away the charm he has. His character also speaks English-not that we have a problem, but that looks completely artificial.
We have all seen Avneet Kaur act since she was a child. Therefore, her appearance on the screen is smooth, and the fluidity with which she speaks her dialogue is also quite admirable.
But boy, she has a long way to go. Her and Nawazuddin's misfit pairing falls flat with one of the weakest scripts that have come from Bollywood this year.
Other characters, like Vipin Sharma and Zakir Hussain, have no major contribution to the story.
Tiku Weds Sheru: Final verdict
Tiku Weds Sheru totally fails to bring the satire it intended to highlight with its quirky characters. The roles are not well-defined, while vulnerable scenes too don't have much impact or punch. However, it can be a decent watch if you leave logic behind.
The story's pace is uneven, some sequences are dragged out, whereas others are rushed. The climax could have been better. Makers genuine attempt to showcase the struggles and tribulations of newcomers in Bollywood and a city like Mumbai somehow off-hand.
Many aspects also remained depthless. But despite the flaws, Tiku Weds Sheru does leave a mark with this new pair and their honest attempt to bring the flavour of entertainment to the table
