Bhaiyya Ji Review: Manoj Bajpayee And Zoya Hussain Are Fantastic In This Full-On Desi Masala Entertainer

Bhaiyya Ji Review: Actor Manoj Bajpayee, director Apoorv Singh Karki, and producer Vinod Bhanushali had teamed up last year for a movie titled Sirf Ek bandaa Kaafi Hai. The film premiered on Zee5 and it received an amazing response. Now, the same team has once again come together for a movie titled Bhaiyya Ji which has hit the big screens today. So, is this film worth a watch? Well, the answer is a BIG YES!
Bhaiyya Ji (Manoj Bajpayee) stays in a village in UP and he is all set to get married to Mitali (Zoya Hussain). His brother Vedant is studying in Delhi and while he is leaving Delhi to come to his village to attend the wedding, one situation changes everything and he dies. Bhaiyya Ji is called to Delhi to take the mortal remains of his brother, and while everyone tries to show that it was an accident, it is revealed that it is a murder. How Bhaiyya Ji takes the revenge of his brother's murder forms the rest of the story...
After Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, we had huge expectations from Apoorv Singh Karki and he lives up to the expectations. The movie starts on a fantastic note, and keeps us hooked throughout till the end. The best part here is, Karki proves that he can't just make a hard-hitting film like Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, but also present a perfect massy movie.
When it comes to basic storyline, maybe it is not something totally new for Bollywood, but this one stands out because after a very long time there's a desi massy film that has hit the big screens. The movie has everything that a desi massy film requires; dialogue baazi, action, comedy, emotional scenes and a very good background music.
In fact, what stands out here is that usually in such massy entertainers, in Bollywood as well as in South, female leads are just there for some glamour. But, here the female lead also has a very strong character, and in fact, you will feel in the second half, why was this film not titled Bhabhi Ji.
The highlight of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai was the climax and here also the climax is fantastic. There will be whistles and claps in the theatres for sure. The only thing the makers should have worked a bit more on was the VFX. Apart from that, it is hard to find any negative element in the film.
Bhaiyya Ji Actors' Performances
I think it has become a habit for me to write this line for every film of Manoj Bajpayee; 'the actor has given an award winning performance'. In the first few minutes of the film, there's a major emotional scene and the way Bajpayee has performed it, I simply can't think anyone can do it. Also, clearly, after Bhiku Mhatre, this is the most massy character he has played and he has nailed it.
While Bhaiyya Ji aka Manoj Bajpayee is amazing as usual, the surprise in the movie is the Bhabhi Ji, Zoya Hussain. Before the interval, you will feel that she has nothing much to do, but in the second half, she takes the centre stage and delivers a mind-blowing performance. Also, she too gets to do a lot of massy action, and she has done it very well.
Well, even the supporting cast is damn good, especially Suvinder Vicky and Bhageerathi Bai Kadam. These two actors have meaty roles to play and they have done a wonderful job. Even Jatin Goswami leaves a mark.
Bhaiyya Ji Review Final Verdict
Overall, Bhaiyya Ji is a full-on desi entertaining masala film. You can surely watch it in theatres and enjoy it.
