Cubicles Season 3 Review: TVF Brings Another Honest & Feel-Good Season That Is Binge-Worthy

Streaming platform: SonyLIV
Cubicles S3 Review: 9 to 5 corporate life-from the daily hustle to complete your task to the frustration in the ever-evolving and competitive world-is something every working adult is familiar with. No matter how much we hate our jobs or feel that we aren't getting the recognition we deserve, the personal experiences and skills we learn from them are unmatchable.
Well, you must be thinking, Why am I talking about the corporate world so much? It is because TVF is back with its popular drama series Cubicles season 3, which is based on the lives of four office colleagues and the people around them. The second season ended with the protagonist, Piyush Prajapati, played by Abhishek Chauhan, deciding to 'survive' in Synnotech.
In the third season, we see all the characters taking a leap of faith and facing new challenges.
TVF's Cubicles S3 tries to show how one has to strive in their position so as to grow in their career. The new season portrays how every employee is a different individual with different aspirations and backgrounds.
With much anticipation around it, the third season of Cubicles premiered on Sony LIV on January 5. Let's see if it's worth your time.
Plot
Directed by Divyanshu Malhotra, Cubicles Season 3 will see characters reprising their roles from the previous season. In the first episode, we are told that Piyush Prajapati has been promoted to the role of team leader.
With a higher position comes great responsibility. Piyush lands this big opportunity to lead a massive project. However, his team members take a casual approach to completing the task, causing a rift between them.
Piyush feels his team members don't take him seriously because he shares a friendly bond with them and is too lenient. He tries to be stern with them, leading to friction within.
As the season progresses, we witness Piyush learning to handle his team in the right way and make them work together. He also masters how to detach his personal life from his professional life.
Direction
Cubicles S3 perfectly narrates the tryst and ambition of individual characters without making it tiresome. The office setup will resonate with your heart. The music of the show also flows smoothly with the story.
The essence of a software company and the nitty-gritty of daily office work are well portrayed. Emotionally charged scenes also stand out.
Performances
Abhishek Chauhan, as Piyush Prajapati, delivers yet another impeccable performance. Over the years, his character has evolved, and Piyush has become more rational. He is convincing as a team lead-someone we would all want in our lives.
Badri Chavan, as Gautam, is the one adorable office friend we all can confide in. He is good at delivering his PJs with ease and gives a heart-touching performance.
Ayushi Gupta as Sunaina shines throughout the season. She is sharp with her role and straight with her work, and knows how to strive in a cutthroat corporate world. She delivers a strong and believable performance.
Niketan Sharma as Shetty and Arnav Bhasin as Kalpesh too are likeable.
What's good, what's bad
TVF has a knack for telling realistic stories that touch hearts. And with season 3, Cubicles has been able to showcase the lives of people trying to fit in the corporate world.
The show is a no-brainer and gives a delightful outlook on the cubicles. Dialogues sit well with the story and are familiar.
The actors' performances and their chemistry as colleagues is another USP of the show.
The show gives equal importance to each character, with subplots merging seamlessly with the main story.
It is heartwarming and feel-good, but it paints a rosy picture of corporate life, which might be too far from reality. Not everything is hunky-dory in real life.
I personally felt that Piyush's third season only focused on the office and not his personal life; a little exploration would have made it more interesting.
Verdict
Cubicles season 3 rightly justifies its theme of capturing the mundane lifestyle of a corporate life and the struggles to keep up with its changing challenges. The show's narration portrays a too-good-to be true corporate story, but it is definitely relatable for everyone who experiences the same in their life.
Its simplicity and natural performances by the star cast of the show make it binge-worthy.
