Sarfira Review: Akshay Kumar Is Simply Fantastic In This Well Made Soorarai Pottru Remake

Sarfira Review: In 2020, a Tamil film titled Soorarai Pottru started streaming on Amazon Prime Video. It was a movie made for theatrical release but due to the pandemic the makers decided to release the film on OTT. The movie received an amazing response from the critics and won multiple awards including multiple National Awards. Now, a Hindi remake of the film titled Sarfira will release tomorrow (12th July). So, is it worth a watch? Find out in our review below...
The movie revolves around an ex IAF officer Vir (Akshay Kumar), who because of an incident in his life, dreams to launch a low cost aviation company so even middle class and lower class people can travel by plane. How he plans, executes, and faces hurdles, form the rest of the story...
I have watched the Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, so when it comes to story Sarfira was not a new film for me. So, it all depended on how Sudha Kongara, who also directed Soorarai Pottru, narrated Sarfira. Well, it is scene-to-scene remake. But, there are elements that work in the favour of Sarfira.
Soorarai Pottru was made for a theatrical release, but got an OTT release. Now, Sarfira is getting a theatrical release, and it is surely a big screen experience that you shouldn't miss. Also, Sudha Kongara has remade her own film very well. Last time, when a filmmaker directed his own film again and impresses us was Sandeep Reddy Vanga, when he remade Arjun Reddy as Kabir Singh.
Another element that grabbed my attention was that even though I had watched Soorarai Pottru, I equally enjoyed Sarfira. It was entertaining and intriguing for me. So, of course, that is one of the most positive points about a remake that even though you have watched the original film, you enjoy the remake as well.
Sarfira Actors' Performances
One of the major factors that Sarfira stands out is Akshay Kumar's fantastic performance. When I had watched Soorarai Pottru, I had thought that if this is remade in Hindi who can play the lead role, and the answer was Akshay. This is a role tailor-made for Akshay and he has nailed it. Radhikka Madan is also very good in her role and leaves a mark. Her Marathi accent is just perfect!
Supporting actors like Seema Biswas, R. Sarathkumar, Krishnakumar Balasubramanian, Anil Charanjeett, Prakash Belawadi, and Saurabh Goyal; all are perfect in their respective roles. Suriya's cameo will surely get a smile on your face!
Sarfira Songs
The songs in Sarfira are decent, but the background music is surely commendable and takes the film a notch higher.
Sarfira Review Final Verdict
Overall, Sarfira is a well made remake. Even if you have watched Soorarai Pottru, you will enjoy watching this one and one of the major reasons for it is Akshay Kumar. So, watch this one in a theatre near you.
