Deva Film Review: Deva Re Deva! Shahid Kapoor's Acting Is Saving Grace Of This THANDA Action Thriller

Deva film review: Trust Shahid Kapoor to ace any role, even when the script is weak. While Rosshan Andrrews failed to pack a solid punch with his Hindi directorial, Shahid's performance saved Deva, which turned out to be a damp squib. The flick was touted as an action thriller and masala entertainer. But where's the masala? Where are the high-octane action sequences that can keep you hooked on the screens?

Shasha pulled off the role of a rugged and tough cop with ease, showcasing his strength as an actor. His range in acting is phenomenal, proving why he is one of the best actors we have in Bollywood. He portrayed the role with full dedication, displaying the raw and intense avatar of Dev Ambre. It won't be wrong to say that he has done the heavy lifting for the film, carrying Deva on his shoulders.

Pooja Hegde, despite showing promise, couldn't impress due to a weak character. When will the Bollywood makers start giving equal importance to their film leads? She did justice to her role of a journalist but where was the depth in her character?

DEVA MOVIE REVIEW: THERE'S NO MASALA IN THIS ENTERTAINER

Uchi dukan, pheeka pakwan- this is how I will describe Deva in a few words. The trailer looked promising but the end product is thanda. It seems the makers followed the same old template of copy-paste where there was no power-packed dialogues or high-octane action sequences.

The first half of the film is stretched a few scenes could easily be chopped off. While there are high moments featuring Kapoor in the second half, the execution could have been better.

Deva had all the potential to be a masala entertainer but the director and the scriptwriter didn't pay complete attention to their product. It had the required ingredients for a successful flick like drama, music, thrill and action. However, the sluggish pace, lack of connectivity between scenes caused turbulences for the smooth landing of the film.

Deva was said to be 'deadly, daunting and destructive' but it turned out to be a fuski bomb.
