Pakistani Author Tarek Fatah Passes Away Due To Cancer In Canada

In what came as an unfortunate news, renowned Pakistani author Tarek Fatah passed away. He was 73 and was settled in Canada. According to media reports, he was battling cancer for a long time. The news of his sudden demise has sent down a wave of shock and grief on social media. To note, the news of Tarek's demise was confirmed by his daughter Natasha Fatah.
Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, Natasha shared beautiful pics with her late father and penned a sweet note for him. She tweeted, "Lion of Punjab. Son of Hindustan. Lover of Canada. Speaker of truth. Fighter for justice. Voice of the down-trodden, underdogs, and the oppressed. Tarek Fatah has passed the baton on... his revolution will continue with all who knew and loved him. Will you join us? 1949-2023".
Earlier, Natasha had shared an update about herself spending quality time with her father just a day before his demise. She wrote, "Enjoying a slow Sunday morning with my dad. Listening to old Bollywood songs and I'm wearing orange for our shared love for Mother India. And a hit of red for our adopted and adored home Canada."
For the uninitiated, Tarek Fatah was born in Karachi, Pakistan, on November 10, 1949. Apart from being a renowned author, Tarek Fatah was also a well known Pakistani-Canadian journalist, broadcaster and political activist. He was seen expressing his support to BJP-led NDA government and was known for his progressive views on Islam.
Meanwhile, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri took to the micro-blogging site Twitter and mourned Tarek Fatah's demise. He wrote, "There was one and only @TarekFatah - daring, funny, knowledgable, sharp thinker, great orator and a fearless fighter. Tarek, my brother, it was a delight to have you as a close friend. Will you be able to rest in peace? Om Shanti".
