Actress Turned MP Roopa Ganguly, Who Played Draupadi In BR Chopra's Mahabharat, Arrested In Bengal; Here's Why

Roopa Ganguly Arrest Reason: Roopa Ganguly, who is widely known to play the role of Draupadi in BR Chopra's Mahabharat, is arrested in Bengal. The former BJP MP has been taken to the Kolkata police headquarters after she was protesting over a student's death at Bansdroni area in Kolkata. According to the reports, the actress turned MP was staging a dharna after a BJP leader was arrested in connection with an accident of a 15-year-old boy in that area on Wednesday. The actress is reportedly arrested for hindering police's work.

Roopa Ganguly Arrest Reason In Details

For the unversed, the accident caused massive protest at the Bansdroni area of South Kolkata after the young boy died in a road accident involving an excavator. Followed by the accident, locals clashed with the police and it was reported that a few policemen were even attacked. The incident happened at 7am on October 2nd, when the class 9 student was standing by his cycle near his tuition centre. He was declared dead upon being rushed to the hospital near the area.

Later, in the evening, Roopa Ganguly staged a dharna on why the excavator driver hasn't been arrested yet. She also questioned local TMC workers' agenda for trying to protect the police after they were held hostage for hours by the angry protestors. Amid these, BJP leader Ruby Mondal has also been arrested for protesting at the place for which Roopa also raised voice. Later, Roopa is also arrested for obstructing police work.

According to the reports, the road, where the accident happened, has been under repair since 2017 which caused the protest by the locals of the area.
