On Tuesday, Baba Ramdev's wax figure was unveiled at an event at Madame Tussauds New York in Delhi. The yoga guru, too, was present at the venue in his usual saffron attire.
The wax statue is sculpted in the Vrikshasana pose, which involves standing on one leg with the other leg bent as the sole of the foot rests against the thigh and the hands are joined by being stretched over the head.
Ramdev also did the iconic pose beside the statue in Vrikshasana. The word is derived from the Sanskrit word "Vriksha," meaning a tree. While speaking on the occasion, Ramdev said, "I feel honoured that my wax statue is being installed at Madame Tussauds in New York."
He added, "It's not just a piece of recognition for me but is also a recognition of yoga and ayurveda and India's eternal culture. This also shows that not only are icons from Bollywood, Hollywood, and the world of politics celebrated and recognised but a seer can also claim similar recognition."
Ramdev also applied a tika on the forehead of his wax figure. With this, the Indian yoga guru has joined the league of other prominent Indian personalities whose wax statues were earlier installed at the Madame Tussauds Museum in New York, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Mahatma Gandhi, Sachin Tendulkar, and others.
