Bengali Bollywood Fan Is Earning Money By Imitating His Heroes!

Meet Masum Khan, from Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, who once dreamed of becoming a Bollywood superstar. He may not have made it all the way to Mumbai, but he is a superstar as a content creator today, and a hero in and around his village.
While growing up, Masum loved Bollywood movies and became a fan of Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan. Since his school days, he would watch movies on a small black and white TV, even while he used to help his father in his small scale cement business. He would entertain the customers in the shop by reciting filmi dialogue. He even joined theater classes near his home.
However, as the cement business wasn't doing well, he dropped out of college, and also the theater classes which he joined recently. He moved to Delhi and attempted to build a career there, but that failed very quickly.
He decided to move back to his village in 2018, and reconnected with his love for Bollywood. But this time, not through theater or TV but by creating content on short video platforms. He chose to be the hero of his own life! His early videos were about lip syncing to filmi dialogues but soon he started recreating movie scenes of his favorite actors.
One of Masum's favorite scenes is in the movie Vastav, when Sanjay Dutt catches the culprit who killed his right hand man Dedh Futiya. Well, watch Masum recreate it in his own style where he sent the culprit flying in the air with a single kick! Don't miss the epic background music!
Another video of his favourites is the character 'Munna Bhai' This worked like magic for him. People started liking his style and even his village people started recognizing him. "I believe in Shahrukh Khan's dialogue from Om Shanti Om -"When you want something, the whole universe conspires in order for you to achieve it" - Masum told us proudly.
Masum created his profile on the Indian short video app, Josh, during the pandemic and replicated the similar style of content there. Josh's audience was a match for his style, as Josh has over 100Mn people who live, breathe and dream cinema like Masum does. To cater to the diverse Indian audience on Josh, he began to recreate scenes from South Indian films (but in Hindi).
His recreated scenes became viral and to his surprise, he started earning money on Josh. Masum was so happy to finally receive the first payment from any social media for his content through Josh's Creator Pro program. This program judges content engagement only, and does not need a creator to have millions of followers or hundreds of videos.
As Masum says, "There is no bigger happiness and satisfaction than earning money doing what you really love. Thanks to Creator Pro, my faith in hard work is restored." From his early days of entertaining customers in a cement shop to his transition into a known entertainer, Masum's life has turned around. He is so proud that his fellow villagers love his videos and follow him. Masum still wishes to be recognized by Bollywood movie director Rohit Shetty someday and get a chance to showcase his talent in a Bollywood movie!
