EXCLUSIVE Interview! Suhasi Dhami On Playing Warrior Queen In Chitrangada: I Am Enjoying Both...

Chitrangada, which is an adaptation of the book of the same name by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. The Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli actress is playing the role of a queen and warrior in the play. In an exclusive interview with Filmibeat, Suhasi opened up about prepping up for the role, attraction towards the character.
After ruling the TV industry, you are set to showcase your magic in a play? How excited are you?
I am extremely excited to be a part of Chitrangada especially because it's my teacher Madhumita Chakraborty and Toni Chakraborty who have choreographed the play. I feel that I am lucky, and I have a lot of gratitude that they gave me a chance to perform.
Considering it's a dance drama, what sort of preparation did you do to get into the skin of the character?
Well, you know, I have been dancing for a while now with Madhumita Didi. She already knows my capacity, so she did the choreography accordingly and when it comes to preparation, the songs are already so beautiful. Everything is already done. I did not have to put a lot of thinking or effort into making the character because it was kind of already there. I just had to do the needful.
You're playing a queen, warrior and a mother - sounds exciting. What attracted you towards the character?
So I am playing Chitrangada; The lover of Arjun, who is madly in love with Arjun and is a warrior. So of course I get a chance to wear those lovely jewellery and the clothes are amazing and I get a chance to do a little bit of action too. I am enjoying both, my portrayal as a lover and as a warrior as it gives layers to my character.
Can I just say that I am always in awe when you smile? We have seen you act, showcase your dancing skills in nach baliye. What's next for you as an artist?
Well, for now, I am focusing on this play and we all mutually unanimously want this display to go places because it's a lot of effort of too many people, especially my teachers, Sandeep Sir, Moumita, myself and all the dancers.
We really wish that people around the world should watch and appreciate it and experience the Indian culture.
