However, there is one role that she rejected for which she was against in the Karan Johar directorial, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. The director initially approached Kajol to play the role of Rani Mukerji in the multi-starrer movie, however, Kajol rejected the role.

On her appearance in Koffee With Karan season 2 episode 1, Kajol graced the couch with Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan. In the episode, they discussed about the movie plot and how it recieved backlash because of the storyline where infidelity were showcased.

Talking about the same, Karan Johar asked Kajol if this is the reason she disagreed with the film. To which, Kajol elaborated, "Yes, there were some points I disagreed with. As a woman, as you said before, I was like he's such a great guy, why would you not stay with him? Why would you fall in love with him, and again, there is a plus side to it, and there's a negative side to it, love is blind. I just didn't agree with it, I feel when you get married, you should want to work on it. As a woman watching the film, I wish she had worked on it in some way."
