According to the Pakistani media, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was arrested on the basis of a defamation complaint filed by his former manager Salman Ahmed. The reports also claimed that the renowned singer was held at the immigration counter and was taken to police station for interrogation.

The rumours were clarified by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who soon shared a video on the micro-blogging site Twitter (now X) and called the reports of his arrest as fake and baseless. The video was captioned as, "News circulating regarding the arrest of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is fake and baseless".

In the video, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan stated, "Main yahan pe Dubai me apne gaane record karne ke liye aaya hua hu aur bahut ache humare gaane yahan par ho rahe hain. Everything is fine. Main yahi aapse guzarish karunga ki ghatiya afwahon pe bilkul bhi kaan na dharein. Aisa kuch nahi hai jaisa dushman soch rahe hain". He also urged his fans across the world not to focus on baseless news and called his fans and audience his power.

To note, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan had parted ways with his manager Salman Ahmed who was with the renowned singer for 12 years. Khan even confirmed the news in a press conference early this year and said, "I will request our clients to not make any payments to our previous management. I would like them to make payments only if they have my signature on the receiving. Earlier, I didn't pay attention to these things and a lot of clients, who were associated with me because of their love for me, have been trapped because of these payments. Such episodes should not be repeated and this is one of the main reasons that I have conducted this press conference".
