Singer Priya Patidar Missing Her Family On Makar Sankranti

Singer Priya Patidar is missing her family on the festival of Makar Sankranti and remembers her mother.

She said, "I'm currently settled here in Mumbai so from many years haven't celebrated Makar Sankrati with my family as I am always travelling for work around but this time I'm really miss celebrating with them. My mom makes amazing Till laddoo's so surely that is a highlight and a core missing which is itched with this festival. For lunch we used to have Dal Bafla, its a variation of dal bati and its my most favourite dish. I couldn't travel home for some other work commitments."

She continued to share the significance of the festival and her love for flying kites. She continued, "Makar Sankranti has always been very special for me and my family as its the first festival of the year and being a Gujarati it holds special Significance for us. My forefathers were from Gujarat but afterwards they shifted to Indore, Madhya Pradesh so I was born and brought up in Indore till the time I shifted my base to Mumbai for my career."

Recalling her childhood memories she added, "We celebrate the festival with both the favour of Gujarat and Indore. In Gujarat festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and unique traditions. Kite flying, locally known as "Uttarayan," is a major highlight. The skies are filled with vibrant kites, and people engage in friendly kite-flying competitions. But in Indore it was little different as not all used to celebrate it like as in Gujarat. So in my home at Indore ritual were like in morning we all will gather for puja first later after a while we all kids used to directly head to the terrace for kite flying & we used to organise a good setup. We used to take our portable speakers, festival snacks and drinks and was totally like a day party."

Priya is known known for singing theatre version of popular song Do Dhaari Talwaar along with Shweta Pandit and Shahid Mallya in 2011 movie Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, later she turned Lyricist with her song 'Tasveer' composed by Vikram Montrose.
