Walmart Faces Backlash For Selling Lord Ganesh Underwear & Footwear; Internet Says 'Hurting Hindu Sentiments'
Walmart Trolled For Selling Ganesh Printed Clothes: Walmart is facing backlash over a new product line that has sparked controversy. The multinational retail corporation has been selling various clothing items featuring images of Lord Ganesh, which has deeply offended members of the Hindu community. Photos of these garments have quickly gone viral on social media, with many calling the sale a "blatant disrespect to religion." Let's take a closer look at what exactly Walmart is offering.
Walmart Trolled Over Selling Lord Ganesh Printed Items
Walmart is selling several items that have Lord Ganesh printed on them. These items include women's underwear, men's shorts, pajama pants, and even slippers under the name of "Celestial Ganesh Blessings Collections" on Walmart website. Uploading the screenshot of Walmart selling these items has brought rage in the Hindu community. One uploaded the screenshot on X saying, "I am absolutely outraged to see Walmart selling underwear and footwear featuring Lord Ganesh! This is a blatant disrespect to our religious sentiments and the sanctity of our deities. How dare they commodify our revered gods for profit?" Another tagged Walmart saying, "🚨 This is unacceptable. @Walmart is hurting #Hindu sentiments. #Walmart should immediately withdraw the 'Celestial Ganesh Blessings collection' and apologize to #Hindus 😡 #BoycottWalmart."
Walmart Withdraws Selling Slippers & Swimwear
After the controversy came into the limelight, the Hindu American Foundation, a US-based Hindu advocacy organization, wrote directly to Walmart management. As per Sanatan Prabhat's report, the Hindu American Foundation called out Walmart for "misusing the Hindu imagery on slippers and bathing suits." After the action was made, Walmart removed the products from their website. These products are being sold, but not in India.
