Manmohan Singh's wife Gursharan was born in Pakistan during British rule, later her family had to flee to India during the the Indo-Pak parition in 1947. She was born to Sardar Chattar Singh Kohli, engineer of Bumrah-Shell and Bhagwanti Kaur. She was the youngest among the seven siblings.
Gursharan is a renowned history professor and author. Apart from that, she is also an accomplished singer in the kirtan genre and earned accolades with her performances in Jalandhar Radio. Other than that, she is also known for her natural style and elegance, Vogue highlighted her presence in 2009 G-20 summit where she flaunted her undyed hair unapologetically as the first first-lady to do so.
