Miss World 2025 Controversy: Who Is Milla Magee? Contestant Quits Pageant Over Exploitation Claims
Milla Magee, Miss England 2024, has raised concerns about contestant treatment at Miss World 2025 in Telangana. Organisers deny her claims, aiming to refocus on celebrating global beauty and talent.

Miss World 2025: Controversy has erupted around the 72nd Miss World pageant in Telangana, sparked by allegations from Milla Magee, Miss England 2024. Magee, who withdrew from the competition on May 16 citing personal reasons, later claimed in an interview with The Sun that contestants were treated poorly. She described feeling like "performing monkeys" and alleged they were made to wear heavy makeup and gowns all day.
In response to these claims, Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary of Telangana's Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department, stated that a meeting would be held on May 25 to address the situation. He dismissed the allegations as exaggerated. Meanwhile, a source from the Miss World organisation refuted Magee's statements, asserting her departure was due to health issues and denying any private parading of contestants.
Pageant Organisers Deny Allegations
The Miss World organisation has firmly denied Magee's accusations. They clarified that all events were officially hosted by the government and no inappropriate activities occurred during her attendance. The organisation suggested that Magee's comments were intended to create controversy in an otherwise smoothly run event.
Despite the controversy, the pageant continues with Charlotte Cox now representing England. She arrived in Hyderabad following Magee's exit and was warmly welcomed by Telangana officials. Cox is expected to fully participate in the remaining events of the competition.
Focus Remains on Celebrating Global Beauty
The organisers are keen to shift focus back to celebrating global beauty, talent, and cultural exchange as the pageant progresses. They aim to address Magee's allegations while maintaining a positive atmosphere for participants and attendees alike.
Magee's claims have certainly stirred public interest and debate about the treatment of contestants in beauty pageants. However, both organisers and government officials are working to ensure that the event remains a celebration of diversity and talent.
The unfolding situation highlights ongoing discussions about contestant experiences in beauty pageants worldwide. As attention remains on how these issues are addressed, organisers hope to continue showcasing cultural exchange and talent through this prestigious event.
