Japanese actor-singer and the beloved J-pop idol Mizuki Itagaki is no more. The young actor breathed his last at the age of 24. Announcing the sad news with his fans, Mizuki's family issued an official statement in which they claimed that he was struggling with mental health issues and passed away due to an 'unfortunate incident'.

Apparently, he was dealing with mental health issues since last year.

Previously, his fans had expressed concerns about his mental health after watching him on a show.

Earlier today (April 17), late Mizuki Itagaki's family took to his Instagram account and confirmed his death. Sharing a long emotional note on his story, his family wrote (as translated by Koreaboo) -

"We're very sorry to share that actor Itagaki Mizuki has passed away due to an unfortunate incident. To all the fans who supported him with so much warmth, and to everyone who worked with him, we're truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts.

Since the end of January, Mizuki had been missing due to struggles with mental health issues he had been dealing with since last year. The police and others continued the search, and just recently, we were contacted by the Tokyo police that his body had been found in the city.

We're really sorry for not being able to share this news sooner with everyone who had been worried about him. Mizuki always worked hard with the hope of bringing smiles and joy to everyone through his acting. He had just started taking steps toward returning to work, so it's heartbreaking that his life ended like this, something even he probably never expected.

To everyone who supported him during his life, we're so sorry we couldn't give you a proper goodbye and have to tell you like this. We hope you'll continue to remember Mizuki and the work he did with warmth in your hearts.

Who Was Mizuki Itagaki?

Born on 25 October 2000, 24-year-old Mizuki Itagaki was a Japanese actor-singer-model and the former member of the J-pop all-boy band - M!LK. As per reports, Itagaki Mizuki announced his departure from Stardust Promotion last year in March and closed his official fan club.

He was scouted by the Stardust Promotion company when he was randomly on his way back home after shopping with his mom. He was just 10 years old back then. Mizuki made his debut in the Fujifabric music video. Later, he officially made his movie debut in Dark Gold Ushima-kun Part 2 (2014). In the same year, he officially became a member of M!LK which formed by EBiDAN. Then, he appeared in films like 'Demon Girls', 'Heart Beats', 'The Blue Skies at Your Feet', 'That Disappearance' to name a few. 'Don't Lose Your Head!' was his last film which was released in 2024. He had also appeared in TV series like 'Hiru', 'In-House Marriage Honey' and 'Burning Flower' to name a few.
