Born in 1974 to a military family in Gujarat's Vadodara, Colonel Sofia Qureshi was the first Indian female officer to lead an Indian Army training contingent and the only woman commander among 18 participating nations at the ASEAN Plus Multinational Military Exercise, Force 18, back in 2016.

As per HT, a statement issued by the Gujarat government stated that Sofia's grandfather worked as a 'religious teacher' in the army back in the day.

She got married to Colonel Tajuddin Bagewadi, a native of Konnur village in Gokak taluk of the district. And now, she is serving in the Jannu region, while her husband Tajauddin is presently serving in the Indian Army in the Jhansi region.

Shyna is an all-rounder in a true sense and dons many hats. She is working as a model, actress, co-producer, economist and environmentalist. As per The Economic Times, she had also won a gold medal in rifle shooting and was awarded by the President of India.

According to her Instagram bio, she was crowned 'Ms India Earth 2017' and 'Ms. United Nations 2018'. Apparently, she also received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2018.
