Raghav Chadha Turns Host For A Delivery Boy Who Earned Rs 763 In 15 Hours
The article examines a Blinkit delivery partner's account of long hours and meagre earnings, highlighting calls from MP Raghav Chadha for urgent reforms to protect gig workers. It connects daily work pressures with policy debates on social security and complaint mechanisms in India's gig economy.
A Blinkit delivery partner’s account of low earnings and long hours has renewed focus on gig workers in India. The worker said a full shift of almost 15 hours and 28 deliveries resulted in income of only ₹763. Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha later met the Blinkit delivery partner for lunch at Chadha’s residence. The meeting was described as informal and friendly, giving space for detailed discussion about daily work pressures and missing protections in the gig economy.

Gig workers and Blinkit delivery partner highlight pay concerns
During the conversation, the Blinkit delivery partner spoke about long workdays, fluctuating payouts, and app-based targets. The worker also mentioned a lack of clear safety nets or simple complaint systems, which leaves platform workers exposed when problems arise during deliveries.
Chadha had already raised these issues earlier in the Winter Session of Parliament. The MP flagged low pay, extended working hours, and the absence of social security for gig and platform workers. After hearing the worker’s story, Chadha restated the need for urgent reforms to secure workers’ rights and dignity.
The Blinkit delivery partner reportedly felt respected during the interaction and welcomed being heard directly by a lawmaker. Chadha stressed that India’s gig economy should not develop at the expense of workers’ well-being or basic security.
The meeting between Chadha and the Blinkit delivery partner underlined how policy debates connect with everyday life. It suggested that any future rules for gig workers will need to start from the experiences of those facing algorithm-driven targets and uncertain earnings.
