Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta: Evolving from Actors to Producers with Dreamiyata Dramaa

Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta Evolving from Actors

Ravie Dubey and Sargun Mehta have always been recognized for their stellar performances on screen. But their journey in the entertainment world is evolving, as they stepped into the producer's role with their ventures, Dreamiyata Entertainment and Dreamiyata Dramaa. While their acting careers are still flourishing, their foray into production has been driven by a natural progression rather than a planned transition.

In a recent interview, Sargun explained, "That was never really part of the dream, to be honest. But over time, things evolved." It all began when the duo was approached for a film project that was facing budget limitations. The director, who had worked with Sargun as her assistant director in the past, reached out to her with a proposal. When she heard about the constraints, Sargun decided to step in, saying, "Count me in. Let me come on board as a producer, and let's see if we can figure it out." And just like that, Dreamiyata Entertainment was born-an initiative that wasn't planned but happened organically. The film turned out to be a success, which sparked their interest in exploring filmmaking and television production further.

Ravie added, "We then started writing Udaariyaan, and it was entirely written by Sargun." He recalled how Sargun would come to him with story elements during the pre-lockdown days, and Udaariyaan soon became a game changer for both them and the platform. "That time slot hadn't seen such high numbers in nearly a decade," Ravie said. The show became a defining moment, marking their growth not just as actors but as creative minds in the industry.

However, their journey didn't stop there. Sargun became obsessed with the idea of launching a YouTube channel dedicated to fiction shows-something no one had done in India before. Ravie remembers, "She was determined, repeatedly saying, 'We will create a YouTube channel, Ravi, where we will produce fiction shows with 30-40 minute episodes and 25 episodes per series.' At first, I struggled to grasp the full scope of her vision, as it was an uncharted territory. But after doing my own research, I saw the potential. Sargun was convinced there was a huge demand for nuanced, emotionally rich dramas, particularly romance-a genre not often explored in long-format series on digital platforms in India."

And in just six months, their YouTube channel, Dreamiyata Dramaa, announced five shows-two of which are currently streaming and garnering immense love from audiences. The response has been nothing short of overwhelming. Ravie shared, "The channel is growing rapidly, and the response to the shows has been extremely encouraging." Their friends, as well as industry leaders across OTT and television platforms, have taken notice, and they're excited to see what's next.
