In an exclusive interview with Filmibeat, Sachiin Kumbhaar spilled the beans about hosting Sachiin Kumbhaar, sharing memorable moments from backstage.

Here are excerpts from the interview-

1. You've just returned from hosting Miss World 2025 - a major global stage. What was it like to represent India in such a high-profile international event?

It feels surreal, unreal, massive and unbelievable. I never thought I would be on that stage. But yes, representing India on that global stage, I didn't know till the time I got to that stage what was I doing. It sank in only after the show was over and the reactions that I got from people. People talked to me about hosting 'The Miss World' and it was out of this world. I had never imagined and here I was, hosting Miss World 2025. For me, it was a proud moment that I was a live performer from the Indian entertainment business and I was able to represent my country and diligently do a good job and deliver and also receive appreciation for the same from different parts of the world.

2. Can you take us behind the scenes of Miss World 2025? What were some of the most memorable or challenging moments from hosting the show?

It was huge. The backstage scenes were quite literally huge and massive because there were so many contestants from different continents. 108 countries participated. So, you can imagine the size and the grandeur. That itself for me to absorb was quite unreal. I have done so many pageants but the good thing for me there was the camaraderie. They came from different countries and they were winners of that respective country. So, they were already confident and they already made a mark in their nation. So, they were all confident and comfortable in their own zone. So, yes there was competition but they all looked at so much of ease and they were all having fun. That was the most memorable part if I had to put forward my takeaway. They were just one big, happy family. As far as challenge is concerned, my initial worry was the accent because every country has their own accent and so do we. So, that was my worry. There are 108 countries and some of them don't speak English. Their native language is not English. So, will that be a problem? Will my accent be a problem? That was going on in my mind as a challenge. But thankfully, as the show went on, I conquered and overcame that. We as Indians don't have an accent which is American, British. We don't stereotype it relating to a country. We have a global accent and I think we excel in that and that's understood by every nationality in the world.

3. You've been a familiar face on Indian platforms like Miss India, Netflix, and Prime Video. How different was the international stage in terms of expectations, audience, and production scale?

Yes, I have been doing shows in India and that has been my pillar of foundation for me to grow. However, in this International stage, the expectations were very classy, conversational and extremely professional. Timings were all about hard stops. It had to start at a certain time and it had to end at a certain time. Thankfully the audience, this happened in India in Telangana and hence, we had a lot of Indian audience. However, nearly 108 countries as I said, there were national directors of every country and a couple of people from that. So, there was a large audience which was from different countries. So, the expectation was to keep it global and not sound or be inclined towards any particular country, especially our country. My job was to keep it neutral. That was one of the biggest aspects that unknowingly came out of me and I am glad it did. Production wise, the lights, LED, the whole setup, the effects, everything was out of this world. If one takes a close look at the pictures and videos, they will see the magnanimity the space has and that speaks volumes for a global stage like Miss World.

4. As an Indian host gaining global recognition, how do you see the role of Indian presenters evolving on the world stage? Are global platforms more open to diverse voices now?

Well yes, definitely. This was an example that global platforms are now open to diverse voices. The fact that I was there and as I mentioned at the start, I am from the live entertainment business, not from a reality or much of the acting space yet. Still, I was able to make it and it just goes to show that the doors have opened. Our craft and talent has to speak volumes and it was acknowledged. I was roped in to do the opening ceremony of Miss World 2025, three weeks prior to the finale and they liked my work. That's how, the finale happened for me. Definitely, they could have got anybody else from abroad knowing the stature of the event. However, I am glad I got that and it just goes to show that it is evolving. The world stage is now more open for Indian presenters. One of the key aspects of presenting is everybody should understand your accent and dialect and that's very important. We as Indians speak the global citizen's language and hence, it is acceptable, adaptable and easily understandable for everybody. All these have definitely opened the doors of the world for Indian presenters.

5. Looking back at your journey from national stardom to global acclaim-what key lessons or turning points have shaped your career, and what's next for you?

I would say two things and that's honesty and consistency to my craft, alongside the never-give-up attitude. There are a lot of ups and downs, more downs and there is a lot of negative thinking also that happens. But, I have tried to keep myself 'head up high' and believe in myself that let my work speak. That's what my tagline is. There have been several turning points. There have been several individuals who have 'hand held' me through the journey and I am indebted to them forever. The start was 'Fresh Face' that happened in 2012 when I moved from Dubai to India. That was my key turning point and it gave me the platform to spread my wings, fly high and showcase my talent. Nobody had seen before what I can do or what I can deliver. So this was one and post that, came Femina Miss India. I started hosting the smaller events for Femina Miss India like the city pageants, so on and so forth. 2015, around that time, Pro Kabaddi came my way. Actually Hockey India League came my way first and then Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League and that's how the journey began. I did about 7-8 years of sports anchoring for Pro Kabaddi and Femina Miss India continued for me. As of now, I am on the board of jury for Femina Miss India and I also train few delegates who represent our country at the global pageants. I did host 'Miss Diva Finale' alongside Femina Miss India and then here I was, hosting Miss World 2025. It's been a beautiful journey and the platform of pageants have been the game-changer for me and have helped me be where I am today. Platforms like Mrs India, Mr. India, 'Queens Of India' etc. So, a lot of pageants have helped me shape what I am to be able to host Miss World 2025. As far as what's next for me, definitely a lot more of anchoring. Looking forward to more opportunities all over the globe and be that Asian guy who represents the Asian continent and becomes their English-speaking anchor for globally-renowned and acclaimed events.
