Sardaar Ji 3 Producer Condemns Hania Aamir For Her Remarks On Operation Sindoor: She Hit Below The Belt

The film Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Diljit Dosanjh, faces backlash due to Hania Aamir's remarks on India's Operation Sindoor, leading to a decision to skip its Indian release. This could result in a revenue loss of ₹40 crore.

The film "Sardaar Ji 3," featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, has been embroiled in controversy due to Pakistani actor Hania Aamir's involvement. Her comments against India's Operation Sindoor have sparked outrage. Despite the backlash, she remains part of the film, which is set to release overseas, including in Pakistan, but not in India.

Gunbir Singh Sidhu, co-producer of "Sardaar Ji 3" alongside Diljit Dosanjh, explained their decision to skip an Indian release. Speaking with NDTV, he mentioned that the Pahalgam attack and subsequent tensions influenced this choice. The team wanted to respect Indian sentiments and avoid further distress among their compatriots.

Impact on Revenue

This decision has financial implications for the filmmakers. Gunbir noted that bypassing an Indian release would result in a significant revenue loss. He referenced their previous collaboration, "Jatt & Juliet 3," which earned ₹100 crore globally, with 40% from India alone. This means a potential loss of ₹40 crore for "Sardaar Ji 3."

Gunbir also addressed Hania's controversial remarks. He acknowledged her statements were inappropriate but refrained from further comment. He emphasized that such incidents should not have occurred and announced they would no longer work with Pakistani artists. “I believe that they should not have made such statements. But I cannot comment more than that. But I would say that those things should not have happened and she hit below the belt. Now we have taken this decision with full strength that we will not work with any Pakistani artist from now on,” he added.

Diljit's Perspective

Diljit Dosanjh shared his thoughts on Hania's casting during a conversation with BBC Asian Network. He explained that when filming began in February, relations between India and Pakistan were stable. However, circumstances changed unexpectedly, leading producers to opt for an overseas release.

Diljit expressed understanding of the producers' decision due to the substantial investment involved. He highlighted that when he signed the film, everything seemed normal. Now, given the situation is beyond their control, he supports releasing it internationally.

The controversy surrounding "Sardaar Ji 3" highlights the complexities of cross-border collaborations in cinema. While artistic projects aim to bridge cultures, geopolitical tensions can complicate these efforts significantly.
