Spotify Celebrates India’s Pop Revolution with the Grand Launch of Its First-Ever I-Pop Icons Live Event
Spotify's inaugural I-Pop Icons Live event in India showcased prominent I-Pop artists, reflecting the genre's rise in popularity. With significant listener growth and numerous chart-topping hits, I-Pop is becoming a staple in the music scene.

Spotify recently hosted the inaugural Spotify I-Pop Icons Live, uniting India's top I-Pop stars. The event featured performances by King, Armaan Malik, Jonita Gandhi, Aditya Rikhari, Kushagra, Hansika Pareek, and Sanju Rathod. This gathering highlighted the growing influence and popularity of I-Pop artists in India.
I-Pop music has gained significant traction on Spotify over recent years. Artists like Aditya Rikhari have become regulars on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs India chart. His track "Sahiba" currently leads the chart, with 12 of the top 20 songs being I-Pop hits.
Spotify's Commitment to I-Pop Growth
The I-Pop Icons playlist on Spotify, launched in August 2024, has attracted over 428,000 followers. Other playlists such as I-Pop Rising and mood-based collections like I-Pop Mohabbat and I-Pop Chill further support emerging artists. A dedicated hub named Home of I-Pop serves as a central point for fans.
Dhruvank Vaidya from Spotify India stated, "Over the last few years, we have seen the consumption of I-Pop music increase significantly on Spotify. Spotify is fully invested in growing I-Pop in India through the I-Pop playlist ecosystem, bespoke content that we create with artists and now the first ever I-Pop Icons Live event. Of the artists that performed at the event, Aditya Rikhari with 'Sahiba' currently has the top spot on the Spotify Weekly Top Songs India chart, while King's 'Maan Meri Jaan' was the most streamed song in India in 2023, based on Wrapped data. We expect to see this growth to continue, as artists create more I-Pop music and keep growing their fan base. Spotify will continue to play a very key role in bringing these artists closer to their biggest fans."
Artists Leading India's Pop Scene
King's "Maan Meri Jaan" stands out as one of Spotify's most-streamed tracks in India for 2023. With over 9 million followers on Spotify, his album Champagne Talk reached #4 on Spotify's Global Albums Top 50 chart.
Armaan Malik boasts over 23 million followers and ranks among Spotify's top 100 most-followed artists. He pioneered international collaborations with stars like Ed Sheeran and Calum Scott and was featured on a Times Square billboard for his English debut "Control".
Jonita Gandhi is a multilingual artist with nearly 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Her collaboration with DIVINE on "Sitara" has garnered over 21.7 million streams.
Aditya Rikhari is rapidly rising in India's pop scene with close to 2 million followers and over 25 million monthly listeners. His hit "Sahiba" has dominated the charts for over 18 weeks.
Emerging Voices in Indian Pop
Kushagra has seen a remarkable listener growth of 665% over the past year. With more than 13 million listeners and over 400,000 followers, he is establishing himself as a breakout star.
Hansika Pareek is making waves with her song "Ratiyaan", which ranked among Viral Songs India's top 100. She has more than 9 million monthly listeners and over 90,000 followers.
Sanju Rathod is elevating Marathi pop music with hits like "Gulabi Sadi", which crossed 100 million streams on Spotify. His track "Shaky" reached #2 on Spotify's Top Songs India chart.
The rise of I-Pop reflects its expanding reach across languages and regions within India. As these artists continue to innovate and connect with audiences worldwide, their influence will likely grow even further.
