URDEBUT Goes Global: After India, It’s Now Canada’s Turn to Shine

After shaking up India's indie music scene, URDEBUT - the world's first platform dedicated to launching debutant musical talent - has landed in Canada, and it's bringing the heat! Partnering with Warner Music Canada, URDEBUT is now on a mission to spotlight fresh South Asian voices from across Toronto, Vancouver, and beyond. Think breakthrough artists, genre-bending sounds, and a whole new wave of talent ready to take the global stage by storm. Founded by Indian entertainment powerhouses Nikhil Dwivedi, Mayuri Gupta, and Ankush Dharmani of EYP Creations, URDEBUT is already known in India for giving us breakout acts like Kushagra, Tanishka, and Bhoomi. And now, with its Canadian chapter, it's going all in on uncovering South Asian-Canadian voices - a scene that's long been buzzing but never had its own launchpad... until now.
"There's an undeniable wave of South Asian creativity coming out of Canada - and we're here to give it a global microphone," said Nikhil Dwivedi, Founder of URDEBUT and CEO of EYP Creations Canada. The first signing from Canada? Meet Gurpreet Marwah, the platform's debut Canadian artist - introduced at a high-profile launch event in Toronto attended by music bigwigs, creators, and tastemakers from both the Canadian and South Asian communities. "Canada's new-gen musicians are fearless and fresh," said Kristen Burke, President, Warner Music Canada. "URDEBUT brings a much-needed launch ecosystem for this talent."
How URDEBUT Became the Coolest Launchpad in India. In just one year, URDEBUT dropped 40+ original tracks, launched six debut artists, and gave us viral hits like: "Finding Her" by Kushagra - hit #128 on Spotify's Global Top Songs and ruled India at #1 for a month. "Baawra" - Kushagra & Tanishka's dreamy collab that cracked Spotify India's Top Songs. Bhoomi's "Jogan" - charted at #20 on India's Viral list. "Dard" - another Kushagra hit, peaking at #70
Celebrity shoutouts from Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Nimrat Kaur helped boost visibility, while editorial features on Spotify Radar, Apple Music's Up Next, and YouTube Megaphone added serious street cred. URDEBUT artists have already played major live stages like Zomaland, Horn OK Fest, and Bollywood Music Project - and scored cool brand deals with YSL, Meta AI, OnePlus, JBL, and L'Oréal. URDEBUT's expansion into Canada is just the beginning of its global play. With music fans across the world leaning into diverse sounds and stories, the platform is offering emerging artists a full-stack launchpad - from mentorship and music production to digital strategy and visual storytelling. "URDEBUT isn't just a platform - it's a movement," says Dwivedi. "We're artist-first, culture-driven, and ready to go global. Canada is just the start."
