Jyoti Malhotra arrest: YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra trended on social media after she was arrested on Saturday (May 17) over allegedly spying for Pakistan and sharing sensitive information about the Indian military to Pak's intelligence operatives. The Haryana-based travel content creator was held on the charge of passing sensitive information to Pakistan, according to a report in PTI.

WHO IS JYOTI MALHOTRA? WHY WAS SHE ARRESTED?

Jyoti Malhotra is a YouTuber who runs a channel named 'Travel with JO'. Malhotra, who hails from Hisar, has visited several countries, including Pakistan, China, Bhutan, and Indonesia. Her arrest set several tongues wagging as she was held on charges of espionage.

Jyoti was arrested days after India conducted Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 civilians.

Jyoti Malhotra has 381k subscribers on her YouTube handle, where she shares vlogs from her trips. She has 1.37 lakh followers on Instagram. Describing herself as a 'Nomadic Leo Girl', she wrote on her Instagram bio, "Wanderer. Haryanvi + Punjabi modern girl with old ideas."

JYOTI MALHOTRA'S CONNECTION WITH PAKISTAN

According to a report in NDTV, Jyoti visited Pakistan twice and shared content on her YouTube vlogs and Instagram reels.

Did you know Jyoti went to several places in Lahore? She documented her journey through vlogs, showcasing places like Anarkali Bazaar and Katas Raj Temple. From comparing Indian and Pakistani culture to gorging on Pakistani cuisine, she covered different aspects on YouTube.

According to the NDTV report, Jyoti went to Pakistan for the first time in 2023 when she arranged a visa through commission agents. She came in contact with an official at the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi. His name is Ehsan-ur-Rahim (Danish). The duo later formed a close bond.

Rahim reportedly introduced Malhotra to Pakistani intelligence operatives. She was arrested for allegedly sharing crucial information about the Indian Army and details about their location. The YouTuber was in touch with the Pakistani agency officials even after returning to India post her trip.
