Nusraat Faria Arrested: In a shocking turn of events, Bangladeshi actress Nusraat Faria has been arrested in Dhaka. According to media reports, she has been arrested in a murder case and was apprehended at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport on May 18. For the uninitiated, the 31 years old actress is known for playing the role of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her biopic Mujib: The Making of a Nation and the news of her arrest has come as major shock to everyone.

Who Is Nusraat Faria?

For the uninitiated, Nusraat Faria Mazhar is a popular name in Dhallywood and Tollywood wherein she has worked as a radio jockey, TV presenter, model, singer and actress. She even holds a law degree from University of London. Nusraat made her acting debut with 2015 release Aashiqui which was a hit film. Over the years, she was seen in several movies like Badsha - The Don, Hero 420, Premi O Premi, Boss 2: Back to Rule etc. However, it was her performance as Sheikh Hasina in Shyam Benegal's 2023 release Mujib: The Making of a Nation which was highly acclaimed by the audience and critics.

Why Is Nusraat Faria Arrested?

The media reports suggested that Nusraat has been facing allegations related to an attempted murder case of a student in Dhaka's Vatara area during the widespread protests against Sheikh Hasina in July 2024 which eventually led to her resignation and subsequent departure to India.. According to a report published in Prothom Alo newspaper Nusraat was arrested at the immigration checkpoint while she was heading to board a flight to Thailand. The news of Nusraat's arrest was confirmed by Shafiqul Islam, the Assistant Commissioner of Police in the Badda Zone. For the uninitiated, apart from Nusraat Faria, 16 people have also been accused in the case.
