'Z' Launches Unique Nationwide Hunt To Find India’s Next Big Screenwriters Through Zee Writers Room

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. has unveiled Zee WRITERS ROOM, an initiative to discover and nurture emerging screenwriting talent across India. This programme is not just a talent search but a creative movement that aligns with the company's brand philosophy,Yours Truly, Z’. It aims to enhance content offerings across various platforms by bridging the gap between raw storytelling potential and professional screenwriting.

The initiative is spearheaded by Zee's central content and regional teams to connect untapped talent with India's evolving entertainment landscape needs. An engaging brand film in seven Indian languages announced this initiative with a vision of opening opportunities for future writers through "STORIES. SCRIPTS. SCREENS."

Regional Focus on Emerging Talent

Samrat Ghosh from Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., emphasised Bengal's rich literary heritage as they set up this platform for Bengali storytellers. "Bengal has always been a hub of literary and cinematic brilliance. With Zee WRITERS ROOM, we are setting up a new-age platform for emerging Bengali storytellers to find their voice and create narratives that reflect both legacy and contemporary sensibilities."

Siju Prabhakaran added that South and West regions have vibrant storytelling cultures which will benefit from this initiative. "The South and West regions are home to some of the most vibrant storytelling cultures in the country. Zee WRITERS ROOM will help channel that passion and creativity into professionally structured content that can thrive across TV, OTT and film."

Opportunities for Aspiring Writers

The programme targets writers with creative sparks who may have shown promise in college festivals or digital platforms but haven't yet entered the industry. It focuses on refining promising talents into professionally ready screenwriters rather than teaching basic writing skills.

A total of 70 new writers along with 30 emerging experts will be groomed into an idea-generation engine at Zee WRITERS ROOM. They will transform story seeds into compelling narratives for TV shows, OTT platforms, and films under expert guidance.

The final stage includes interviews conducted by an industry panel before onboarding selected candidates into Zee WRITERS ROOM where they develop story ideas under expert guidance.
