When Komal Nahta asked Zoya, "How do you come up with story ideas?"
Zoya Akhtar replied saying, "It's different every time. For example, in "Spain Zindagi na milegi dobara," the trip appealed to me. When I made "Dil Dhadakne Do," I wanted to show the patriarchal society and how the new generation of siblings can change the very nice relationship between brother and sister. So, that's how the story developed. But in "Gully Boy," I saw a rapper and wanted to tell his story, so that's how that story developed. So, different inspirations lead to different stories."
