Jisshu Sengupta's team defeated Kerala Strikers with two balls remaining, in a classic match in Celebrity Cricket League on Saturday (January 31).

The main stand came from opener Arjun Nanda Kumar, who struck 61 from 41 balls, with five fours and two sixes. Earlier, Unni Mukundan added stability, scoring 41 off 33 deliveries, hitting two fours and three sixes in a measured knock.

Earlier, the innings began with contrasting fortunes for the openers. Joy Kumar Mukherjee attacked from the start, striking 18 from 11 balls with two clean sixes. At the other end, Indrasish Roy fell for a first-ball duck, caught by Aryan K off Unni M, applying early pressure.

The platform for the Bengal Tigers innings came from Jammy Banerjee, who delivered a composed 64 from 58 balls. Banerjee hit eight fours and one six, keeping the scoreboard moving. This knock stabilised the middle overs after the early setback, ensuring wickets were in hand for a final assault.

Support around Banerjee was mixed. Uday Pratap managed 6 from 8 balls before falling lbw to Bineesh K, despite one boundary. Later, Yusuf Chishti added 10 from 9 deliveries but could not convert a start, dismissed by Arun B, leaving the side needing urgency near the close.

The turning point in the Bengal Tigers innings came with the partnership between Jisshu Sengupta and Rahul Mazumder. Sengupta remained unbeaten on 23 from 20 balls, hitting two fours and one six. This steady hand allowed Mazumder to attack freely from the other end during the closing overs.
