The reason behind CJP's protest and Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike is the demand for Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over the leak of the NEET-UG medical entrance examination question paper. In the past 19 days, Wangchuk has lost over 9 kgs and refuses to break his fast unless and until the government responds to their demands and takes accountability.

Several celebrities like Sonakshi Sinha, Imran Khan, Aditi Rao Hydari, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Shabana Azmi, Zeenat Aman, Vir Das, Swara Bhasker, Omi Vaidya, Anurag Kashyap, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Vishal Dadlani, Atul Kulkarni and Abhay Deol, among others, have come forward in support of Sonam Wangchuk and urged the government to hold a dialogue.

Indian activist Sona Wangchuk's indefinite hunger strike has put his personal and professional life in the spotlight. He is married to Gitanjali J Angmo, whom he'd met at an education conference.

Born in Balashore, Odisha, Gitanjali hails from a Punjabi family. After completing his bachelor's degree in Physics from Fakir Mohan University, Angmo pursued an MBA from Xavier Institute of Management in Bhubaneswar.

As a social entrepreneur, Angmo founded Helios Books, AUM Hospitals, and the AUM Trust to advance healthcare access and support community-focused initiatives. Later, she went on to co-found Himalayan Institute of Alternatives (HIAL) with her husband Sonam Wangchuk in Ladakh in 2017.

It all happened in an organic way. He wants to hand-hold them and wants every well-meaning person to join the movement."
